  2. Flood warnings in force for tomorrow morningpublished at 09:07 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2017

    We're being warned to stay in touch with flood warnings, external over the next few days. 

    The Environment Agency says a combination of high winds and tides could see flooding along the east coast.

    There is currently a low flood risk in place.

    The Environment Agency say high tides and gale force winds could lead to large waves overtopping the defences. 

    They add they are not expecting it to be a surge like that seen in 2013 (pictured).

    There will be a high tide on Friday morning at just before 05:00 in Bridlington, between 06:00 and 6:40 in Grimsby, Immingham, Hull and the Humber Bridge and at Goole at 07:30.

    Homes could be evacuated along the Lincolnshire coast ahead of a storm surge predicted for tomorrow morning. 

    Residents are being told not to panic but remain vigilant and prepared.

    A family are calling for safety improvements to a junction in Healing near Grimsby following three accidents in the space of just one hour. 

    Three vehicles skidded on ice outside their home, one crashed through a fence and another hit a tree. 

    North East Lincolnshire Council says it is investigating the matter.

    Poultry farmers in Lincolnshire say they're losing millions of pounds due to the recent outbreak of bird flu. 

    Restrictions mean they are banned from exporting products to some countries including China - where the sale of chicken feet for use in soups is particularly lucrative. 

    19.1 million birds are raised in Lincolnshire each year.

    Investigations are under way after a lorry carrying pigs overturned on the way to an abattoir in Lincolnshire. 

    The accident happened at Cowbit near Spalding earlier.

    A vet was called to assess the welfare of the animals and a small number had to be put down at the scene. 

    The A16 has since reopened.

    Flood defences are being checked and tidal gates closed along the Lincolnshire coast. 

    The Environment Agency says it's monitoring a weather system which has the potential to cause flooding on Friday morning. 

    A high tide and strong winds early on Friday morning could cause problems. 

    They're expecting large waves and spray which could over-top some flood defences. 

    Storm surge

    The Environment Agency says no flood alerts or warnings are in place yet, but they're watching the weather closely. 

    As a precaution tidal gates have been closed this afternoon and defences are being checked. 

    People living along the coast are being urged to sign up for flood warnings at gov.uk/flood

    Permission for oil production in Wressle has been refused due to "insufficient information on ground contamination".

    Egdon Resources had wanted to extract up to 700,000 barrels from a single oil well in Brougton and Wressle. 

    North Lincolnshire Council has this afternoon turned the plans down.
