More about the school in Market Rasen  which has a suspiciously large number of musical alumni. 

The school has unveiled a plaque in memory of Rodney Temperton, the songwriter who worked with Michael Jackson writing Thriller and other hits.

He's studied at the school:

Today current pupils of the school have been remembering the Grammy Award winning writer with a school concert with covers by pupils' bands.

He died last year, aged 66 after a short battle with cancer.

Work has begun building a 'Nerf Gun Battle Arena' and a climbing centre in Boston.

Work on the structure has begun in the last week.

Nerf guns are colourful toy guns that fire foam pellets with rubber ends on.

There are also plans to build 12 climbing walls in the extension, which is attached to a bowling alley and soft-play centre.

I've been speaking to Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones about his thoughts on this as well as the decision to hold a minute's silence for PC Palmer today.

A Lincolnshire school is remembering one of its most famous former pupils today - the songwriter who penned Thriller for Michael Jackson.

De Aston school in Market Rasen is holding a Rodney Tempterton Day to celebrate the writer's most famous songs.  

Pupils will be performing covers of his hits and unveiling a plaque to commemorate his humble beginnings at the school.

Another musical ex-pupil from the school, James Dring, will be doing the honours. He's worked with Jamie T and other modern musicians.

This is the same town which also counts Elton John's long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin as one of its most famous residents...

The police station in Lincoln's city centre is to close by 2019.

Staff will be relocated from the building on Beaumont Fee in the city to the police and fire HQ at Nettleham.

The old building isn't on the market for sale yet because police are expected to continue using it until 2019.

The building - affectionately nicknamed the "Ryvita building" because of its unusual concrete design - will be sold off and the neighbourhood team are expected to move to the fire and ambulance station on South Park in the city.

A former marine living in Lincolnshire says he hopes his former sergeant is released from prison today after serving three-and-a-half years for shooting dead a Taliban prisoner.

Sgt Alexander Blackman (pictured below) - who was identified as 'Marine A' before being convicted of murder - has recently had his conviction downgraded by judges after an appeal hearing.

He's to be sentenced today for manslaughter with diminished responsibility.

Cassidy Little, who served under Sgt Blackman in Afghanistan told us he's hopeful about today's ruling:

East Midlands Trains say, external there's been a failure of the electricity supply at the Doncaster signal box, which is causing problems:

• Trains are unable to run between Doncaster and Lincoln Central on the Doncaster-Peterborough route
• No service between Lincoln and Newark Northgate on the Grimsby/Lincoln-Leicester route
• Trains on the Norwich/Nottingham/Liverpool line are being diverted and won't stop at Grantham
• Nottingham/Grantham/Skegness trains won't stop at Grantham either
