    Homeless charities are getting nearly £300,000 thanks to customers of the Lincolnshire Co-op. 

    The Lincoln-based Co-op says 14 groups are benefiting after they were chosen as Community Champions.

    The company's chief executive Ursula Lidbetter says the money's come from the dividend it pays out when you shop in the stores, as well as fundraisers from staff and customers.

    The man in charge of Lincolnshire's biggest local authority says he's not happy with plans to redesign the the county's NHS.

    In a letter published this morning, Councillor Martin Hill of Lincolnshire County Council says he's "not confident" that money-saving plans will deliver decent services for everybody in the county.

    Councillor Hill's responding to the so-called Sustainability and Transformation Plan, which has been drawn up by Lincolnshire's seven major NHS organisations.

    In the letter he says he and his fellow executive councillors need reassurance over the plans and feel it is "not credible" in the predictions over funding.

    The team behind the restored Vulcan Bomber XH558 say they're delighted they can press ahead with plans for a new visitor centre.

    The aircraft, which was based at RAF Waddington, near Lincoln, during its operational service, was the focus of a major overhaul in the 2000s.  

    Recently the aircraft was taken off public display at Robin Hood Airport, near Doncaster, after the lease on its hangar ran out.

    But Michael Trotter from the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, which looks after the aircraft, says £200,000 has now been raised for a new visitor centre at the airport.

    Schools in North East Lincolnshire are the big losers under a new system of funding schools, according to a councillor responsible for children and young people.

    North East Lincolnshire councillor Ros James claims that over the next two years, schools in the region will lose nearly £2m from their budgets.   

    The Department for Education says school funding is the highest on record and says under the proposed national schools funding formula, over half of England's schools will get a cash boost.

    It's also affecting traffic on the A46 Lincoln bypass around the Riseholme roundabout.

    A 1,400 home development on the outskirts of Sleaford could be given outline planning permission later.

    An application's been submitted for a stretch of greenfield land near The Drove between the western edge of the town and the A15. 

    The plans also include two primary schools, a hotel and sports facilities.

    South Kesteven District Council has a new Conservative leader - replacing Councillor Bob Adams.

    Councillor Matthew Lee, below left, was elected as Tory group leader and Councillor Kelham Cooke, below right, as deputy at a meeting last night.

    Councillor Lee, who's 37 and represents a ward in Stamford, was elected at the Annual General Meeting of the South Kesteven Conservatives.

    A detention centre for illegal immigrants in Lincolnshire has become more dangerous. 

    The Chief Inspector of Prisons Peter Clarke says Morton Hall has become more violent with detainees becoming frustrated.

    The report highlights a number of concerns including a rise in levels of anti-social behaviour, violence and self- harm. 

    Inspectors also found that detainees were being held for prolonged periods of time with the average length of detention being more than three months - and said there had been a significant decline in safety since the last inspection in 2013.

    A third pensioner has been robbed in Gainsborough last night after two others were attacked in their own homes and tied up at the weekend.

    Lincolnshire Police say the latest attack happened in South Street, Morton, north of the town centre. 

    A 78-year-old woman was threatened and had her purse stolen. 

    A man in his 30s has been arrested but investigations will continue. 

    Police patrols have increased in the area as part of the inquiry and to reassure residents.

    Proposals to collect bins in North East Lincolnshire once every three weeks will be considered today.

    At the minute people living in Grimsby, Cleethorpes and the surrounding area see their bins emptied weekly with recycling boxes collected once a fortnight. 

    The council has come up with nine options, one of them is that the normal bin for household rubbish is collected once every three weeks.

    A public meeting's been organised over a controversial street light switch off in Lincolnshire.

    Clare Waterman from Boston is organising a public meeting and has invited local MP Matt Warman.

    Ms Waterman says many people  believe the crime rate is going up in areas where the lights have been turned off at night. 

    Lincolnshire County Council says the measure is needed to save money, while the police and crime commissioner Marc Jones says there's no evidence of an increase in crime.

    Police have arrested a man in his 30s over two burglaries in which  elderly people were tied up , external in their own homes.

    Detectives say today they're looking at CCTV from Sunday night, when the two incidents happened in Ropery Road and Portland Terrace.
