    Last week we told you about the new paintwork going on the Lancaster Bomber, Just Jane, which is based at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in East Kirkby.

    When we last left them they'd just stripped back the old layers and as you can see work is well underway to get her looking her best.

    The A17 Washway Road in Fosdyke is closed in both directions because of a crash.

    It happened between the B1357 Common Road and Middle Marsh Road and traffic is very slow around the affected area. 

  4. Bomber veteran's wife makes appeal over memorial theftpublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    The wife of a bomber command veteran has called on supporters to help replace a flagpole stolen from the International Bomber Command Centre, near Lincoln. 

    Coral Rutherford, the wife of Les, pictured below, whose Lancaster was shot down over Germany in the war, says another theft is the last thing the team there needed.

    Police say the flagpole, complete with Union Jack flag, was taken sometime over the weekend.

  5. Mobile phone crackdown nets 60 driverspublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    Nearly 60 motorists were stopped in the East Midlands during a campaign targeting drivers using their mobile phones. 

    Sixteen people were caught in Lincolnshire during the week long crackdown earlier this month. 

    Drivers now receive six points on their licence and a £200 fine if caught.

    A man has died after being hit by a train near Stamford, British Transport Police have confirmed.

    Officers say the 72-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene  between Stamford and Oakham at about 21:00 yesterday.

    A spokesman said: "Officers attended alongside paramedics from the East Midlands Ambulance Service however a 72-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead. His family have been told. 

    "This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

  8. Man in court charged with Boston wife murderpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    A man's appeared in court accused of murdering his estranged wife just hours after celebrating his birthday with friends. 

    Lincoln Crown Court heard Gytis Griskevicius went to 33-year-old Marina Erte's flat in Elizabeth Road in Boston and attacked her before drowning her in the bath. 

    Griskevicius, who's 32 and is from St Anne's Road, Boston, denies murder in May last year. The trial continues.

  10. Watch: On the trail of Lincoln's new knightspublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    The 2017 Knights' Trail, external was officially launched in Lincoln last night. 

    The 36 statues will be placed around the city centre from May. They've been sponsored by local businesses and will be auctioned off in September for charity. 

    The trail is to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Lincoln, and follows a similar display last year when barons were placed in the streets as part of the city's Magna Carta celebrations.

  11. Girl's wrist broken in street attackpublished at 10:48 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    Police in Grimsby have asked for your help to trace a man who's alleged to have broken a girl's wrist in a street assault.

    Officers say the man approached two teenagers at the junction of Sixhills Street and Convamore Road. As well as the broken wrist the victim also suffered bruising to her face.

    The man is described as white, 6ft 1in tall and was wearing a black hat, black puffer jacket and dark blue jeans. He spoke with an Eastern European accent.

    Anyone with information is asked to call 101. The incident took place on Saturday, March 18.

  12. Pilgrims' progress on new stadium hits finance issuespublished at 10:29 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    Boston United's chairman says plans to move to a new stadium have been delayed because of increasing costs.

    The lease on the Pilgrims' current York Street home was due to run out next January, but the club says it's now signed an extension.

    The new stadium is part of the wider Quadrant development on the edge of the town - and Mr Newton says funding for the project is now an issue.

    In a statement issued this morning, external he says he is confident construction will still start this year - funded by the rest of the development, which includes housing and retail.

  13. Council to discuss redundancy support for steel workerspublished at 10:11 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    There'll be an update today about the support fund, designed to help people who were made redundant from the Scunthorpe steelworks.

    It was initially set up to help people and businesses in the supply chain. 

    North Lincolnshire Council's cabinet group will meet today to discuss the fund.

  14. Anger after flagpole stolen from veterans' memorial centrepublished at 09:45 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    We're hearing this morning that the new International Bomber Command Centre has been targeted by thieves.

    The centre, which is still under construction, has seen a flagpole stolen - complete with Union Jack flag.

    A few months ago vandals were blamed for damage to the spire which has already been built on the site as a memorial to aircrew who flew in the Second World War.

    Police say the pole was stolen sometime over the weekend.

    Rail services were affected last night into Stamford after a person was hit by a train. 

    CrossCountry services were disrupted at around 22.00 after the incident on the route between the town and Oakham.

  17. New pound coin costs county firm £20,000published at 08:55 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    The new 12-sided pound coin comes into circulation today - but it's proved expensive for at least one company in the county.

    The change has forced Skegness Pier to upgrade more than 300 arcade machines - at a cost of more than £20,000.

    There's a warning this morning that when you do find one of the coins in your change it may not work in some vending machines.

    Gabriella Wilkinson, the admin manager at Skegness Pier, says she thinks they should have had help from the government for the change over.
