English historian and writer Professor David Carpenter will discuss the setting and significance of Magna Carta and the Charter of the Forest in an evening talk on 24 May at Lincoln Castle, external.

Professor Carpenter is a leading authority on the history of Britain in the central middle ages and author of the translation and commentary of Magna Carta with Penguin Classics. He has been professor of medieval history at King's College London since 1988.

Wrexham have signed Shaun Pearson after the defender was not offered a new contract by Grimsby Town.

Pearson made more than 250 appearances in six seasons at Grimsby and was part of the team which secured promotion to the Football League in 2016.

The 28-year-old has also played for Spalding, Stamford and Boston United.

"I'm delighted to be here and once the situation at Grimsby was made clear, there were some options for me," Pearson said.

"But this was the most appealing and we sorted it out nice and quickly."

Lincolnshire Police are appealing for help after a guest caused thousands of pounds' worth of damage to a hotel room in Woodhall Spa.

It happened at the Eagle Lodge on Broadway in the early hours of 14 April.

Officers want to trace a taxi driver who drove guests to the hotel from Lincoln that morning.

A mother has taken to social media after her 17-year-old daughter was savagely attacked by a loose dog , externalin Spalding.

The incident happened at 17:20 on Thursday 18 May where a teenage girl was attacked by a dog, which then went on to ‘eat’ a cat, on the High Road in Whaplode.

The Lincoln Knights' Trail, external begins tomorrow, and the 36 figures are in their spots ready to go.

It's all part of events to mark the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Lincoln.

Well we're hosting our hustings this morning in Horncastle, and at Bishop Grosseteste University, external an election debate aimed at students will be taking place next week.

Lincoln's parliamentary candidates will go head to head at The Venue on Thursday 25 May at 20:00 BST.

Conservative candidate Karl McCartney, Labour’s Karen Lee and Lib Dem candidate Caroline Kenyon have already confirmed their attendance, as has Tony Wells, standing in for the UKIP candidate Nick Smith.

The other candidates – Ben Loryman (Green), Phil Gray (Independent) and Iain Scott-Burdon (Independent) – have all been invited to appear at the hustings.

The event is open to students only but it will be live streamed on the Bishop Grosseteste University Students’ Union Facebook, external page so the general public in Lincoln can hear what the candidates have to say.

A Lincolnshire man's been jailed after being caught with films of child sex abuse.

Gareth Oddy, 34, of Wygate Road in Spalding, admitted searching for indecent material after the police raided his home.

Lincoln Crown Court heard that detectives found more than 400 indecent images - some in the most serious category - when they searched his home in January last year.

During a police interview, he admitted he'd started off by looking at music, but then became curious and searched for indecent images.

He was jailed for eight months and made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer is on the general election campaign trail in northern Lincolnshire this afternoon.

Philip Hammond says the Conservatives are targeting Scunthorpe and Grimsby, seats which have traditionally been held by Labour.

Relegated Chesterfield have signed Scunthorpe duo Joe Anyon and Scott Wiseman on free transfers.

Former Port Vale goalkeeper Anyon, 30, and Gibraltar defender Wiseman, 31, have both signed two-year deals with Gary Caldwell's League Two-bound side.

Anyon played in Scunthorpe's third-tier play-off semi-final loss to Millwall.
