    The driver of the lorry which got caught under Newport Arch in Lincoln earlier finally had to let the air out of the tyres to try and get it moving (below left).

    But as the picture below right shows, it has happened before - but the damage was a bit more severe on that occasion:

    The sights and sounds of a Viking army camp have been brought to life through virtual reality.

    Visitors to the Yorkshire Museum, external in York will be able to see what life was like in a camp in Torksey, Lincolnshire, through a special mask created by researchers at the University of York, working with the museum's digital team.

    The exact location and scale of the camp at Torksey has been the subject of academic debate, but researchers at the universities of York , externaland Sheffield , externalhave revealed it was probably at least 55 hectares, bigger than most towns and cities of the time.

    More than 1,000 archaeological finds have been made at Torksey, including more than 100 Arabic silver coins and more than 50 pieces of chopped-up silver, such as brooch fragments.

    Scunthorpe United's chairman has revealed new land has been earmarked for the team's intended new stadium.

    It follows a long history of delays in the process of planning and building a new home for the Iron.

    Speaking on Sportstalk last night, chairman Peter Swann said the new location is better than the spot they previously had their eye on.

    A former RAF watchtower which was dismantled from its site in North Lincolnshire and moved to the US is to reopen after it was rebuilt in Virginia.

    Goxhill was the first RAF site handed to the United States Army Air Forces in 1942 and was used by the Americans as a training base.

    The site's watch office was later acquired by the Military Aviation Museum in 2003, before being taken down brick by brick and shipped to Virginia Beach.

    Museum Director Mike Potter said the tower was "something of a shrine to many visitors, and it is a distinct honour to be able to offer guests the only experience of its type in our country".

    "The entire control tower was taken apart and transported, right down to the brickwork and the loos," he added.

    I've been out and about this morning with the team placing plinths for this weekend's Knights' Trail in Lincoln.

    More than 30 knights, which have been sponsored by local businesses, will be put up on the plinths around the city in time for the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Lincoln on Saturday:

    This plinth is next to the city's Brayford Pool, overlooking the University of Lincoln.

    Yesterday, some of the knights were taken to London's King's Cross railway station to promote this weekend's events.

    The knights will remain in place around Lincoln throughout the summer.

    On Tuesday, we were telling you how Boston Borough Council had brought in new "litter police" to tackle the problem in the town centre who've already given out fines worth thousands of pounds in just the last two weeks.

    Now, the council's unveiled its latest weapon in the fight against cigarette litter:

    It's being billed as a "pocket ashtray" and the council says it could save you the cost of a £75 fine.

    A teenage boy's mobile phone and bike have been stolen during a violent attack on a street in Grimsby.

    The incident happened at about 22:00 on Tuesday near the footbridge over the River Freshney on Cartergate.

    The boy was approached by a group of men, one of whom who hit him in the face before another took his bike and iphone.

    The men are all described as white with local accents and wearing dark, hooded tracksuit-type clothing.

    The boy's face was left reddened but he did not require hospital treatment.

    The stolen blue and yellow Carrera Hellcat mountain bike and the boy's silver and black iphone 6 have not yet been recovered.

    A man's been arrested after an early morning house fire near Boston, Lincolnshire Police say.

    Fire crews were called to the property, on Meeres Lane in Kirton, at about 05.00.

    It's not yet known if anyone was injured in the blaze.

    Westminster's coming to Grimsby today as young voters are given the chance to find out why their vote matters.

    The Parliamentary Outreach Service will be at the University Centre in the town to talk to students about how decisions made by Parliament directly affect them and others.

    Only 43% of 18 to 24-year-olds cast a ballot at the last general election - and there are only four days left for people to register to vote in next month's general election.

    Today's event in Grimsby aims to explain how young people can register to vote and how Parliament works.

    The National Game Awards, external have taken place and Lincoln City have walked away with a staggering six accolades after their dream 2016-17 season.

    The event, which rewards excellence in non-league football, was held at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge ground.

    The Imps won Cup Run of the Year for their FA Cup run which saw them finally lose to Arsenal in the quarter-finals.

    Sean Raggett (pictured left) won young player of the year, and Paul Farman (right) won the goalkeeper of the year award.

    Danny Cowley was named manager of the year, Alex woodyard young player of the year and, of course, the team won team of the year.

  14. Driver dies after collision near Bostonpublished at 09:07 British Summer Time 18 May 2017

    A driver has died and a passenger has been seriously injured in a collision at Old Leake, near Boston.

    Emergency services were called to the B1184 at about 17:45 last night after a silver Vauxhall Vectra left the road.

    The driver, a man in his 40s, from the Boston area, died at the scene.

    The passenger, a man in his 20s, also from the Boston area, was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

    Police say the road reopened at about 22:30 last night.
