    A woman in her 50s has been taken to hospital after a house fire in Lincoln in the early hours of this morning.

    Police say she's being treated for the effects of breathing in smoke. A man in his 80s and another man in his 50s were also in the property but neither needed treatment.

    Fire crews were called to St Margaret's Close off Hykeham Road just after 05.00. 

    The police and fire service are investigating the cause and the British Red Cross are at the scene assisting the family.

    People dropping litter in Boston have been hit with thousands of pounds worth of fines since the introduction of so-called litter police. 

    The environment officers began working in the town two weeks ago and are on the lookout for anyone littering, fly-tipping or not cleaning up after their dog.

    Horncastle's new mayor will be its last after the town council voted to scrap the role.

    Councillor Brian Burbage was passed the chain of office on the same day his fellow councillors voted nine to two to get rid of the job.  

    Outgoing mayor Councillor Bill Aron says he thinks it's a shame the role will disappear, but councillors say they need to save the £1,000 a year in costs.

    Mr Burbage will serve as the final mayor until 2018 when his replacement will simply be the chair of the Town Council.

    A fire at five terraced properties in Hemswell Cliff this morning has caused extensive damage, with the roof of one house "caving in" and a man being treated by paramedics at the scene, external.

  7. CCTV appeal over Scunthorpe armed robberypublished at 10:28 British Summer Time 16 May 2017

    A CCTV image has been released of a man police would like to talk to about an armed robbery at a betting shop in Scunthorpe last weekend.

    The robbery, at a shop on Ashby Road, took place at about 16:45 on Sunday 14 May.

    A man approached a member of staff at the shop before demanding cash. A staff member handed over a sum of money and the suspect then left in the direction of Priory Lane.

    Anyone with information about the robbery, or who recognises the man in the CCTV picture, is asked to contact police.

    The effects of the global cyber attack which hit the NHS across England and Scotland on Friday are still being felt here in Lincolnshire.

    Many surgeries in Lincolnshire are back to normal, but those affected aren't yet able to offer routine appointment or print prescriptions.

    Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue says it's got a fire at Hemswell Cliff, near Gainsborough, under control.

    About 15 firefighters remain at the scene at a row of five terraced properties.

  10. Hemswell Cliff blaze: Eyewitness reports homes on firepublished at 09:19 British Summer Time 16 May 2017

    More now on that fire in Hemswell Cliff, near Gainsborough.

    We've heard from an eyewitness who says the blaze is in a block of five terraced houses on the former RAF station in the village.

    We're told it looks like the fire started in the roof of one of the properties and has spread.

    Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service has been unable to confirm any details officially other than to say five fire engines are at a building fire in Hemswell Cliff.

    Redevelopment plans for a Lincoln leisure centre will go ahead after the plan was reexamined by councillors last night.

    There have been protests over the plans for Birchwood Leisure Centre, in the south of the city, because the revamp will see the loss of the sports hall and social club.  

    A special behind-closed-doors meeting was held last night at City Hall to scrutinise the decision to go ahead with the project which led to campaigners' objections being rejected for a second time.

    Many GP surgeries in Lincolnshire are back to normal this morning following Friday's global cyber attack which affected the NHS in England and Scotland, health bosses say.

    Meanwhile, Lincolnshire's hospitals are still suffering problems, but people are being told to attend appointments unless they've had a phone call to tell them otherwise.

    A £5,000 reward is being offered for the safe return of a World War Two Dambusters logbook.

    Sgt John Fraser (pictured) from Canada was shot down in the famous raid in May 1943, which set off from RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire aiming to destroy water supplies in the Ruhr Valley.

    Sgt Fraser was taken prisoner when his plane went down and returned to Canada after the war, but died in a flying accident in 1962.

    The logbook was loaned to a military historian for the purposes of research. He was jailed for theft earlier this year after failing to return it.

    Lincolnshire's hospital bosses have apologised for the delays patients have faced following the cyber attack. 

    Mark Brassington who's the Chief Operating Officer at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust which runs Lincoln, Boston and Grantham hospitals say appointments will be re-booked as quickly as possible. 

    Patients are being asked to attend outpatients and operations as planned tomorrow - unless you get a call.

    Grantham's Biedronka store's Alcohol Premises Licence has been revoked. 

    South Kesteven District Council took the decision following two raids on the Wharf Road premises in March and April this year. 

    Sergeant Kim Enderby from the Alcohol Licensing Team at Lincolnshire Police said, "This store was found to be actively involved in selling illicit cigarettes, employing illegal immigrants and breaching nearly all the conditions of their premises licence."

    A spate of distraction burglaries and thefts are being investigated in Louth. 

    In one case a man asked to use the bathroom - in another they asked for a drink before taking cash and items. 

    There have also been a number of purses stolen in the town. 

    The police say two women with a pushchair are also suspects. 

    You're being warned to be vigilant and not let strangers into your home.
