    Senior police in Lincolnshire say there will be no change in the way the county is policed in the wake of last night's terror attack in Manchester.

    Assistant Chief Constable Paul Gibson (below) has released a statement on the force website this afternoon to deliver a "be alert, not alarmed" message.

  4. Lincoln woman dies after motorbike crashpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 23 May 2017

    A woman who has died after the motorbike she was riding was in collision with a car in Lincolnshire yesterday has been named by police.

    Naomi Fox, who was 37 and from Lincoln, suffered serious injuries in the crash at around 15:50 yesterday.

    Officers say she died this morning.

    Similar scenes are taking place around the county, and the country, as people try to come to terms with what's happened, as the names of victims are made public.

    Mr Walkers, who's worked for Holbeach-based Taylors Bulbs for more than a quarter of a century, has the Midas touch when it comes to daffs.

    It's his 24th consecutive gold at Chelsea - blooming marvellous!

    Three of Lincolnshire's beaches are among the best and cleanest in the world.

    The central beaches in Skegness (pictured below), Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea have all retained their Blue Flag status.

    The blue flag is awarded to beaches which meet strict water quality standards and helps local councils market their destinations to tourists.

    I'm at Lincoln Cathedral this lunchtime where people have gathered to say prayers for people affected by the Manchester suicide attack.

    The picture below shows a candle held in the arms of an angel which clergy light at times of national grief and shock.

    The A46 has been cleared at Welton, north of Lincoln, after a three-car crash.

    It's not known if there were any serious injuries.

    The road was completely closed for around two hours after the collision which happened in this morning's rush hour, close to the Centurion Garage.

    There will be more police on the streets in North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire in response to last night's suicide attack in Manchester which killed 22 people and injured 59.

    Humberside Police has released a statement this morning from assistant chief constable Andy Dyer.

    He said: "There is no information suggesting an imminent threat to our area at this time. We are taking all possible steps to keep people safe and to minimise the risk of a terrorist attack occurring in our force area.

    "The public will see an enhanced policing presence, including armed police, across Humberside as the UK police, together with security and intelligence services, work around the clock to keep communities safe."

    The Deputy Chief Constable of Lincolnshire Police, Gary Knighton, is leaving the force after just over a year.

    Mr Knighton, was Assistant Chief Constable in Derbyshire when he joined Lincolnshire Police in February 2016.

    He's now heading back to Derbyshire as Deputy Chief Constable.

    The police have just confirmed that a woman's died after a crash at Middle Rasen, north of Lincoln, yesterday.

    Officers say the victim, who was in her 30s and from the Lincoln area, was riding a motorbike when it collided with a car at around 15:50 yesterday.

    Lincolnshire's most senior police are gathering this morning as part of a so-called Gold Command meeting.

    They will be discussing their response to the Manchester attack with a view to major events in the region this summer.

    It comes as the Prime Minister is chairing a meeting of the national emergency committee Cobra.

    Greater Manchester Police chief constable Ian Hopkins said he was treating the attack as terror.

    If it is confirmed to be a terrorist attack, it would be the worst in the UK since 52 people were killed in the London bombings of July 2005.

    People across Lincolnshire are expressing their shock and disbelief this morning at the attack on Manchester Arena overnight.

    The county's police and crime commissioner Marc Jones has just been speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

    He took his eight-year-old daughter to her first concert a few days ago - the star was Ariana Grande - who was on stage in Manchester last night.

    He says he and his daughter are deeply shocked by what's happened.

    He also says senior officers in the county are looking at how this attack will affect security for major events in the county, and added Greater Manchester Police will receive help from our force if requested.
