Drone operators based at RAF Waddington near Lincoln should be given compulsory psychological support.

That's one of the conclusions from a new study into the effects of carrying out reconnaissance and air strikes in countries like Syria and Iraq.

    Drone

It was written by Lincolnshire-based Dr Peter Lee, from Portsmouth University, who spent time with operators and their families:

    Quote Message

It's very intensive, the work goes on for years on end. There are pilots who've effectively been at war longer than the Second World War lasted. That's an awfully long time to be conducting military operations.

    Dr Peter Lee, Portsmouth University

Humberside gets £136 per year per citizen for policing, we get 88 a year and that's a significant difference... Everyone knows the funding formula is broken, it does not work.
