  6. Concerns over affordable housing commitmentspublished at 09:47 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

Promised affordable housing for Lincolnshire won't be delivered if councils demand too much, it's being claimed.

Around 26,500 new homes are planned for the next 20 years, to be sold or rented at below market rates.

Steve Gelder of the Gelder Group says affordable housing can impact on the value of other new homes.

    Quote Message

It's great we've made this commitment to build all these houses but how we're going to do it, I don't know. I have a cynical view on this that we won't get there. They can bring down the price of some executive homes down but that knocks profitability as well.

    Steve Gelder, Gelder Group

The Department for Communities and Local Government says councils are expected to reach agreements with developers of the levels of affordable housing for each new project.

  9. Apology over 'fire risk' fridge warningpublished at 08:45 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue has apologised to a major fridge manufacturer after issuing a fire warning relating to its products.

Last week the brigade gave out advice regarding models of Hotpoint fridge freezers after speculation one of the firm's products was behind the Grenfell Tower fire in London.

But Hotpoint has now asked the service to point out that the link has not been proven and no conclusions have been drawn on how the fire began:

    Quote Message

We incorrectly stated that Hotpoint's safety alerts were due to fire safety concerns. This was incorrect and we apologise for any concern or panic we may have caused.
