    The MP for Sleaford and North Hykeham Dr Caroline Johnson is urging the government to improve safety on the A1.

    There's been an increasing number of fatalities on the road in recent years which Mrs Johnson says is a concern for local residents.

    The family of Robert McNeill, who was killed during an attack by another patient at Great Oaks Hospital in Scunthorpe, have released a statement.

    Jamie Reed, 26, had admitted manslaughter on diminished responsibility, but was found not guilty of murder.

    In a statement Robert McNeill's family said they were pleased that Reed would remain detained in either prison or hospital.

    A man from Leeds and his mother have been convicted of conning elderly and vulnerable people out of money by convincing them their vacuum needed servicing.

    Thomas Scoffin, 31 from Park Avenue in Leeds and his mother Linda Scoffin, 66 from Hall Drive in Lincoln were convicted of conspiracy to defraud at Leeds Crown Court today.

    The pair cold-called their victims and falsely claimed that their Dyson vacuum cleaners needed servicing and that their company Excel Servicing represented the manufacturer.

    They over charged for parts, as much as 10 times the true value, which funded a lavish lifestyle of holidays, high-end clothing and a wedding for Ms Scoffin.

    They are due to be sentenced 18 August

    Around 40,000 people are expected to descend on a Lincolnshire village this weekend.

    Woodhall Spa's 1940s Festival starts tomorrow.

    Its been described as a groundbreaking appointment.

    The Chief Executive of North East Lincolnshire Council, Rob Walsh will also become of the boss of the local Clinical Commissioning Group

    CCGs are usually clinically-led NHS bodies, responsible for the planning and commissioning of health care services for their local area.

    Mr Walsh says that by bringing the two organisations closer together, this will help improve local health and social care services

  8. Lincolnshire Police admit embarrassment over escape of handcuffed prisonerpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 14 July 2017

    Lincolnshire Police have described the escape of a man - who was handcuffed - from police custody in Boston yesterday as embarrassing.

    25-year-old Aurimas Butkys was being held in connection with an assault in Lithuania and was being escorted into the town's police station when he ran off.

    Tonight he is still at large but is not thought to be a danger to the public.

    Lincoln City fans have come together and launched a crowdfunding website, external to raise money for a new training ground for the club.

    There are hopes to raise £100,000 for the new facility.

  10. Woman jailed after biting prison officerpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 14 July 2017

    A Lincolnshire woman who bit a prison officer after being caught smuggling drugs into Lincoln Prison has been jailed.

    Staff noticed the 41-year-old was acting suspiciously in the visiting area.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard how Nicola Dowell became aggressive and abusive when she was told she'd be searched.

    After being taken to a side room Dowell bit an officer on the arm.

    When she was overpowered, she produced a small parcel of synthetic cannabis which she'd hidden under clothing.

    Dowell, from Castlegate in Grantham, admitted two charges following the incident in January and was jailed for six months.

    A man accused of murdering a fellow mental health patient has been found not guilty.

    Jamie Reed, 26, had admitted manslaughter by diminished responsibility, but denied murder.

    Robert McNeill, 60, died at Great Oaks Hospital in Scunthorpe on 16 January.

    During the trial, the court heard Mr McNeill was left with multiple injuries to his face, head, back and neck after a "frenzied assault" by Mr Reed.

  12. Lincoln Knights damage chargespublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 14 July 2017

    Police have named two men charged with damaging two of Lincoln's knights.

    They are Kenneth Armstrong, aged 20 from Coningsby and Othman Alqahtani, aged 26 from Sleaford.

    The sculptures were pulled off their plinths, external in the early hours of this morning.

    One of the figures on High Bridge was thrown into the river and later retrieved by police officers near Stamp End.

    The two men have both been charged with criminal damage.

  15. Dog mess fines increased in East Lindseypublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 14 July 2017

    People in East Lindsey who fail to clear up after their dogs face a hefty fine.

    The council's decided to increase it from £75 to £100.

    East Lindsey District Council has adopted a so-called Public Space Protection Order which replaces the existing Dog Control Order.

    As well as increasing the fine, the council's decided to continue with their current dog-free areas.

    Dogs will be banned from Skegness, Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-Sea beaches between May and the end of September.

    Also, they won't be permitted in children's play parks, playing fields and the cemeteries in Skegness, Chapel St Leonards and Wainfleet All Saints.

    Children in North Lincolnshire who were evacuated in the 2013 tidal surge are helping emergency services rethink how they deal with flooding.

    Pupils at South Ferriby School have spoken about the impact it has had on their lives as part of a study backed by charity Save the Children.

    The tidal surge saw more than a third of the children at the school forced out of their homes.
