He campaigned hard for Britain to leave the EU and has, at times, attracted controversy over his scepticism on climate change.

There won't be a by-election to replace him. Under the EU elections party list system, he will be replaced by Jonathan Bullock of UKIP.

One of them could lead to it closing altogether with no replacement being built - but the council would need an Act of Parliament to make it happen.

The auctioneers who run it have been given notice to quit by the end of the year but say they remain committed to the site.

    Martin Slack
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

More on the closure of those Lincolnshire Co-op warehouses in Lincoln - which will mean around 140 people are made redundant.

The city's MP Karen Lee has described the news as of "great concern“.

In a statement just released, Ms Lee said: "Following the announcement of the consultation I have arranged a meeting with Ursula Lidbetter, CEO of the Co-op Group, to discuss this move.

"I have also spoken to USDAW representatives to ensure that proper consultation and processes are in place.

"Such news is always a cause of much stress for workers and their families. As yet I don’t have all the details so I will be seeking to establish the facts of the situation and I will also be seeking assurances that both the employer and staff representatives are taking every measure possible to try and find a solution.”

  7. Union: Members shocked over Co-op shutdownpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 11 July 2017

    Sharon Edwards
    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

We've heard from the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (Usdaw) which represents workers at two Lincolnshire Co-op distribution centres which face closure.

The firm says it needs to close the sites to meet changing demand - it comes after 25 jobs were lost in the company's butchery warehouse in May - bringing the total redundancies to almost 140.

Ed Leach, the Usdaw Area organiser, says: “Staff at the distribution centres are shocked by the company’s announcement and are we meeting with management to hear the rationale for their proposals and engage in meaningful consultation about the proposed closures.

“Our priority is to get the best possible deal for our members. We will be looking at options to save jobs and keep staff in employment within the Co-op or with other employers.

"In the meantime Usdaw reps are providing our members with the support, advice and representation they need at this very difficult time.”

series of shocking revelations from aamina home careImage source, Aaamina homecare

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated Aamina homecare inadequate in all areas of inspection.

The CQC report found that staff 'failed to stay for adequate times' to deliver the necessary care. In one case someone who needed 45 minutes of care only received help for 6 minutes.

It also found that because of inconsistencies in when carers visited, medicines weren't given 'as prescribed'.

Since this inspection a person who was receiving care from the company has died and Humberside Police confirmed an investigation is underway.

The company involved disputes the findings from the report.

If you've been a victim of crime - there's a new way to check online how the police investigation is progressing.

Lincolnshire's police and crime commissioner Marc Jones says it's putting residents at the heart of their work.

The new service, called Track My Crime, does exactly that. It means both victims and witnesses can log on at any time to see how the investigation is moving forward.

But there's reassurance for people who don't use computers, as the force says the new system will not replace existing ways of contacting officers. It says it will simply offer a choice which "fits today's 24/7 lifestyles."

Some residents have taken to social media to complain about the council's public consultation into the changes which could see collection times go from weekly to fortnightly or once every three weeks.

The local authority says it has to make changes to save money.

But people aren't happy because they say there's no option on the online questionnaire to keep a weekly collection.
