    Services are improving for patients with shoulder or elbow problems in Lincolnshire according to the trust which runs our hospitals.

    United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust says orthopaedic surgeon Alun Yewlett, who specialises in upper limb surgery will work at Grantham Hospital.

    The trust says it will mean less people will have to travel outside the county for arm procedures.

    More than 100 calls were made to the RSPCA in Lincolnshire in the last five years reporting air gun attacks on animals according to figures gathered by the BBC.

    The charity Cats Protection is calling for air gun owners to need a licence after the statistics were revealed.

    Lincolnshire County Council says it's closely monitoring the financial situation of Carillion, which is building the Lincoln Eastern Bypass after concerns were raised.

    The firm was given the £100m contract last October - but this week shares in the company plummeted by more than 50% following a profit warning.

    A spokesman for Lincolnshire County Council says there's no reason to believe that Carillion's current difficulties will impact upon the bypass. However, they are keeping a close eye on the situation.

    They add in the very unlikely event that the firm is unable to continue with the project, the council will have to appoint a new contractor.

    Today saw the start of a new scheme coming to Lincolnshire - the Mini Police.

    It's all being led by the Lincolnshire force and two schools in Boston are taking part.

    Today pupils at one school, Carlton Road Academy, took part in a Crime Scene Investigation day as a taster of what's to come when the scheme really gets underway in September.

    I've been with them this afternoon and they say they are all keen to be Mini Police when they get back to school after their summer holidays.

    Councillors have today given their support to Lincoln's closure threatened NHS walk-in centre.

    NHS managers are proposing to close it, saying patients will have access to alternative services.

    But Labour county councillor Rob Parker, who raised the matter at a meeting of the authority this morning said the NHS would be foolish to ignore the council.

    The NHS says the centre offers services which are duplicated elsewhere.

    Action is being taken to tackle anti-social behaviour in Lincoln city centre.

    That's the message from the police after local businesses say it's getting worse.

    There have been complaints about groups drinking and taking drugs in St Swithin's Square.

    Police say they're working hard to bring those responsible to justice.

    Hundreds of scooters from all over the UK are expected to gather along Lincoln’s Brayford Waterfront on Saturday.

    It's to raise money for the first reponder's charity LIVES.

    The Lincoln Knights Scooter Club, external will be hosting the event, which is in its sixth year.

    The event will feature a 'Park and Pose' in which the best scooters will win trophies and an Afternoon Ride out where the scooters will ride a planned route around Lincoln.

    A consultation begins today on proposals to demolish nine blocks of flats in Immingham.

    It's part of a plan by Shoreline Housing to re-house people living in up to 18 blocks on the Washdyke Estate.

    A consultation on the future of nine blocks to the south of the estate was completed last year, with the decision taken to only demolish six blocks.

    Today, a consultation opens on a further nine blocks in the north of the estate.

    Officers think they could help them solve two thefts from Boyes in Mercer Row in Louth and nearby Morrisons.

    Police say Games Workshop products worth £750 were stolen from Boyes and vodka was pinched from Morrisons. Both thefts happened on Tuesday 4 July.

    An isolated rural church linked with devil worship and paranormal activity is attracting the attention of police in Lincolnshire.

    Officers say abandoned St Botolph's Church, in Skidbrooke, near Louth, attracts hundreds of visitors every year who are interested in its reputation and stories of Satanism.

    But they say some visitors have daubed memorial stones with graffiti, damaged the fabric of the building and even left home-made Ouija boards behind.

    The church, which is Grade I listed and dates back to the 13th Century has been the focus of controversy before - with locals complaining about Satanist ceremonies taking place there.

    PCSO Billy Spence, from Lincolnshire Police, who's investigating the latest incidents, external at the church said: "The church's atmosphere and reputation for paranormal activity attract hundreds of visitors and the Churches Conservation Trust, who care for the building, welcome the interest in this important piece of national heritage.

    "However, why any of those visitors would then want to mindlessly damage the church is bewildering and deeply saddening and I would urge anyone with information about who is responsible to contact us".

    The UK's Border Force says people are trying to enter the country illegally through the Humber ports on a weekly basis.

    It comes as a report is due out today to assess how well the authorities are stopping illegal immigrants and goods getting into the UK.

    Elaine Smith is staging a one-woman protest outside county offices, and says councillors should do all they can to persuade NHS bosses to keep it open.

    NHS bosses have just announced that a consultation on the closure of Lincoln's GP walk in centre has been extended by almost two weeks.

    Almost 2,000 people have responded so far over plans to shut the centre in Monks Road, and a demonstration was also held last week.

    The consultation was initially supposed to end after eight weeks, but will now finish on Friday 18 August - which takes the exercise to 10 weeks.

    Businesses in Lincoln say anti-social behaviour in the city centre is becoming an increasing problem.

    Shop owners around St Swithin's Square (below) say people are openly using drugs in the public garden daily.

    Traders say they've had to pick up drug paraphernalia and claim it's damaging for the image of the city when visitors see what's happening.
