    The government says it will consider a Lincolnshire MP's request to resurface part of the A180 at Cleethorpes.

    The area's MP Martin Vickers says there's an "urgent" need for the work because the concrete road surface is extremely noisy.

    In the Commons earlier, transport minister and Spalding and the Deepings MP John Hayes says all roads need to be "fit for purpose".

    Plans for a new £20 million leisure development in the centre of Grimsby, including a nine screen cinema and host of big name restaurants have moved a step closer.

    North East Lincolnshire Council, external has ruled that the Freshney Place Riverhead development, which would be situated in the former bus station in the town centre, will not have significant effects on the environment due to its nature, size or location.

    Developer BMO Real Estate Partners unveiled plans in April.

    They were caught on camera during a burglary at a business on Innovation Way in Healing.

    It happened sometime between 16:00 and 23:45 last Thursday.

    A 20-year-old tractor driver has been given a 12-month community order, after he caused the death of a Boston man by careless driving.

    Lyuboslav Georgiev, from Bulgaria, failed to spot 31-year-old DJ Terry Young when he took a right turn in front of the moped Mr Young was riding, leaving him unable to avoid a collision.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard it was clear Georgiev would have had the opportunity to see the Mr Young on his moped for a number of seconds.

    Georgiev was driving a tractor with a harvesting rig attached to front when the collision happened last November, on Marsh Lane in Boston.

    He admitted the charge and was ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work and was disqualified from driving for two years.

    It's hoped plans to renovate and open up an historic country estate in the Lincolnshire Wolds could help to secure its future.

    Jon Thornes and his wife took over the 17th century South Ormsby Estate six months ago.

    They want to convert part of it into luxury apartments and encourage small businesses to operate on their land.

    A consultation has been formally approved - on the future of Lincolnshire's last remaining livestock market.

    Yesterday East Lindsey District Council rubber stamped three options on the future of Louth Cattle Market - the last market of it's kind in the county.

    Campaigners fear it could close - but the council would need an Act of Parliament to make that happen.

    It's been announced that Scunthorpe is to get £60m of investment to help regenerate the town.

    • £5.8m Ongo Homes new HQ that creating 50 construction jobs and space for 250 employees.
    • £5.7m Church Square House extension providing space for 600 council workers and creating 45 construction jobs
    • Around £15m for new University Centre.
    • £3.9m to provide up to 60 one to two bed homes on Lindum Street - private sector investment
    • £14.7m new 200 unit facility for NHS employees. In addition, there will be five commercial units below
    • £4m improvements to make the town look more attractive and road and pedestrian improvements to create better access.
    • £1m library refurbishment

    A town centre board made up of representatives from leading local institutions and developers will be set-up to oversee the projects and make sure they are delivered on time and on budget.

    Detectives have released this picture of a man they want to talk to about an armed robbery in Lincoln earlier this week.

    Police say they want to speak to Nathan Huntington, 24, after the robbery at Betfred in Woodhall Drive on the Ermine estate on Tuesday.

  12. Multi-million tech upgrade on way for Typhoonpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 13 July 2017

    RAF Typhoon fighter jets based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire will get a fresh £40m investment in technology to improve their defences, Sir Michael Fallon has announced.

    The Defence Secretary said the "cutting-edge" improvements would help the Armed Forces deal with "ever-evolving" threats.

    It comes as RAF pilots test advanced weapons and software upgrades for the Typhoon, which is also based at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland and the Falkland Islands.

    The work will upgrade the aircraft's Defensive Aids Sub System (DASS), which protects it from both enemy planes and missiles launched from the ground.

    The man in the image was riding a motorbike, which officers think is a Ducati 959, along the A1084 at Bigby, Lincolnshire on Saturday.

    Scunthorpe United are in discussions with Rangers over a permanent deal for midfielder Matt Crooks.

    The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Glanford Park and Iron boss Graham Alexander is keen to bring him back.

    "He has got other clubs interested in him but we're in the race," Alexander told BBC Radio Humberside.

    "I think there might be a better deal from another club but it comes down to a lot more than money sometimes."

    Senior police say they're deploying more officers outside a Lincolnshire school after a 10-year-old boy was approached by a man holding a knife.

    It happened when the boy walking home from the William Stukeley Church of England Primary School in Holbeach at 15:30 yesterday.

    The man involved is described as a black male, 6ft tall, of slim build, wearing jeans.

    The pupil was unhurt and ran back to school.

    A police spokesman said specially-trained officers will be talking to the child further and there will be an increased police presence outside the school.

    More than £60m is to be invested into Scunthorpe's town centre to bring in more people and businesses, according to North Lincolnshire Council.

    Over the next five years a new university centre and new housing will be created in the Church Square area.

    Work is already under way on a £5.8m headquarters for the area's social housing provider Ongo Homes.

    About £1m could be spent on further developments - including a digger play park - at a Lincolnshire shopping complex in a move that could create 40 new jobs.

    Owners of Spalding's Springfield Shopping Centre want to create the huge play area as another attraction for families.

    The development - if approved - would include a JCB digger zone for children and a Hobbit Village in the trees.
