    Harry Parkhill
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

It may be a huge event on the racing calendar, but you might not know that the Superbike Championships, held at Cadwell Park, are a major boost to the Lincolnshire Wolds economy.

    cadwell park this morning

Seventy thousand racing fans are expected to descend on the Lincolnshire Wolds this weekend for the Superbikes Championship at Cadwell Park near Louth (pictured).

County councillor Colin Davie says it has a huge knock-on effect for the whole economy, not just the park itself:

    Quote Message

It's got to be worth hundreds of thousands, if not millions of pounds to the local economy we don't have an exact figure. But these things benefit enormously from people staying on campsites, staying in hotels, staying in bed and breakfasts and generally spending money while they're here.

    Harry Parkhill
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

Today is your last chance for you to share your opinion on the potential closure of Lincoln's walk-in centre.

    walk-in centre

A public consultation on the potential closure of the Monks Road site (pictured) began last week.

The Clinical Commissioning Group responsible for deciding what healthcare we have in Lincolnshire says that the walk-in centre could be duplicating services.

They suggest that seeing a GP, pharmacy or phoning 111 will deliver the same results.

    Hope Bolger
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

A-level results dayImage source, Lincolnshire County Council

The number of A* grades in Lincolnshire beat the national average and, at over a third, they increased on last year as well.

In over 40% of cases, about 90% or more of students achieved three or more A-level passes at A*-E.

    Quote Message

Success at A-level does not happen by accident. It is only through the hard work of students and teachers, supported by parents and carers, that these fantastic results have been achieved."

Councillor Patricia Bradwell, Executive councillor for children's services, Lincolnshire County Council

  11. Scampton Airshow boss's crossed fingers over BBMF planespublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 17 August 2017

    Hope Bolger
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

More on the news that the RAF Coningsby-based Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) has had to ground one Lancaster bomber, two Hurricanes and three Spitfires until further notice due to an engine fault.

    AircraftImage source, Keith Wilson

The Memorial Flight has had to cancel a date at the Eastbourne Airshow today due to the problem, and they've got a packed programme coming up - including right here in Lincolnshire at next month's Scampton Airshow.

Andy Armstrong, the show's chief executive, says he's keeping his fingers crossed that the BBMF aircraft will be available for the show:

    Quote Message

Safety has to be our number one priority and if they are at all concerned they obviously made the right decision, but the RAF's got the best engineers in the world and I'm sure they're working day and night to make sure that as soon as possible those aircraft are back in the air."

Andy Armstrong, Chief executive, Scampton Airshow

Mr Armstrong added that even without the BBMF aircraft, they'll still have a packed flying display.

  12. Sir Edward not impressed by idea of silent Big Benpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 17 August 2017

    Corazon Garcia
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire News

A Lincolnshire MP says the decision to silence Big Ben for four years is over the top.

    Big BenImage source, PA

The world-famous bell will be dismantled on Monday to allow for repairs, and it will be silenced to protect workers' ears.

Gainsborough MP Sir Edward Leigh says it's a shame to have no "bongs" for several years:

    Quote Message

I think this is politically correct over-engineering gone mad. Of course you've got to protect the workers and nobody's expecting the bells to chime when they're actually working on the clock. But to close down the clock for four years... This is an icon of the British way of life."

    Sir Edward Leigh, Gainsborough MP

  13. Children as young as 11 involved in Cleethorpes bus attackpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 17 August 2017

Children as young as 11-years-old were involved in an attack on a bus in Cleethorpes last night, police say.

Windows on the bus were smashed but fortunately no-one was hurt during the attack, which saw children and young people throwing bricks at the vehicle.

A number of arrests have been made as a result of the incident, Humberside Police have confirmed.

It's the latest in a number of anti-social-behaviour incidents in the East Marsh area.

    Martin Slack
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

The Lancaster, two Hurricanes and three of the Spitfires, based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, all have these types of engines and are therefore all affected.

Dan O'Hagan, an aviation journalist, says he thinks it's purely a precaution:

    Quote Message

They are so careful with how they maintain and look after these priceless airplanes that of course they've taken steps to ground all the Merlin-engined aircraft they have until they've find what the reason is."

    Dan O'Hagan, Aviation journalist

  15. Hair today, gone tomorrow?: City's long-serving barber set to retirepublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 17 August 2017

It's fair to say once you find a barber or hairdresser you like, you tend to stick with them.

Sadly, people in Lincoln who do just that might have had a bit of bad news as one of the city's longest-serving barbers has decided to retire after 51 years in the business:

    Nuccio and Fred

When Nuccio (pictured above left) started cutting hair at Gino's, on Monk's Road, in 1966 the Beatles and Frank Sinatra were in the charts and England were about to win the World Cup.

It's been a long journey since then and Nuccio says he's now looking forward to retiring:

    Quote Message

[I'm] a bit apprehensive because all my customers have been coming for many, many years and I'm going to miss them terribly, really. They're a fantastic bunch of people."

    Nuccio

Not to worry, though. The business is staying in the family, with Nuccio selling Gino's to his cousin.

    Hope Bolger
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

Earlier we told you that a former North Kesteven district councillor has been jailed for two years for indecent images of children.

Ian DolbyImage source, North Kesteven District Council

Ian Dolby, 52, of North Road, Sleaford, pleaded guilty at Lincoln Crown Court to 23 counts of making indecent images of children.

A police raid on his home in December 2013 found more than 700 computer discs containing pornography, 45 of them involved child sex abuse.

Following Dolby's sentencing, the NSPCC children's charity has described his crimes as "shocking and sickening":

    Quote Message

As a councillor, Ian Dolby was elected into a position of power and trust by the public...Each of these images is a crime scene and every child photographed is a victim of abuse. By downloading this material, Dolby was keeping an abhorrent industry alive and ensuring children continue to be abused."
