  1. Police reassure public as wanted man takes to roof in Scunthorpepublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 15 August 2017

    Humberside Police say they want to reassure people living near to the Salisbury Close area of Scunthorpe, where a wanted man has taken to the roof of a house.

    A statement from Humberside Police says: "We would like to extend our thanks for the support shown by the residents during this operation and that we fully understand the inconvenience this type of incident creates.

    "We want to reassure the community that we intend to resolve this at the earliest and safest opportunity."

    Police say they're due to meet local authority representatives and local community groups later "to provide further support and reassurance to the community".

  2. Road closed in Scunthorpe as wanted man takes to house roofpublished at 10:37 British Summer Time 15 August 2017

    More on the news that a man wanted by police has taken to the roof of a house in Scunthorpe in a bid to evade capture by police.

    Kyle Ferguson is wanted for a number of offences including possession of an offensive weapon, affray, assault and public nuisance associated with a number of rooftop incidents.

    A police cordon is currently in place in Salisbury Close (pictured), and it also affects Plymouth Road, Bristol Road and West Common Lane.

    A statement from Humberside Police says: "We can assure the public and residents that we have their safety first and foremost in our minds."

    Two people have had to be cut free from a car following a crash near Horncastle last night.

    It happened at Wispington at about 22:00 last night and involved two vehicles.

    Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information about it is being asked to contact police.

    Lincolnshire Co-op has put collection points for food banks in 83of its stores.

    The idea was inspired by a BBC Radio Lincolnshire report about food banks struggling for donations.

    It was interesting for us to hear that summer is a peak time for food banks and they get a lot of pressure because free school meals clearly aren't available out of term. That can obviously leave a hole for families that are struggling.

    The Co-op's drop off points will provide parcels to 18 food larders across the county.

    Lincolnshire's hospitals trust is no longer diagnosing children on the autistic spectrum.

    The local NHS providers admit they're reviewing the service and an urgent meeting is taking place today to address the issue.

    Police are looking for a man who owns a dog which attacked a woman whilst she was at the theme park Fantasy Island.

    The woman was walking with her family when her young daughter asked the man if his dog bit.

    The woman stood between the dog and her daughter which then lunged at her, biting her on the leg and on the bottom.

    It happened at around 18:00 on Thursday 6 August near to the Rombus Rocket ride.

    The dog is described as a sandy/brindle coloured staffy-type dog and was being walked by a man who is described as having grey hair.

    Just a reminder that the B1397 Boston to Bourne road will be closed at Gosberton Risegate level crossing for the next two weeks.

    Network Rail is working on the river bridge next to the crossing.

    We've been told by residents that traffic is very bad in the area so do avoid the area if you can.

    A man selling the so-called legal high Mamba on the streets of Lincoln has been jailed for eight months.

    George Lusby, of no fixed address, admitted possession of a psychoactive substance with intent to supply and supplying a psychoactive substance at Lincoln Crown Court today.

    The 22-year-old was arrested after police were tipped off by CCTV operators that he was acting suspiciously in the city centre.

    A former firefighter from Boston has described getting back in the sea a year after he broke his neck while in the water on his stag-do.

    James and Michaela Thorpe had to postpone their wedding after James was left paralysed from the chest down.

    The couple finally got married last month and on the big day he was able to stand to say his vows, James and Michaela even performed a first dance with the help of a special frame.

    Just after they jetted off on their honeymoon where James says he enjoyed being back in the sea.

    With the help of technology James is continuing to set new goals - the next one is driving again - when he gets his adapted car next month.

    Today a new assessment unit to treat broken bones and other traumas has officially opened at Boston's Pilgrim Hospital.

    The orthopaedic ward will relieve pressure on A&E - by providing fast track access to doctors.

    They'll be able to take direct GP referrals which will reduce patient anxiety and pressure on staff.

    Instead of long waits in an unnecessary A&E environment they'll be treated much quicker, they'll be brought straight up to here, treated very quickly, hopefully turned around in a day if they're minor issues."

    A man in his 30s was assaulted in the Fever and Boutique nightclub in Lincoln on Saturday 1 July, he suffered a facial injury.

    Anyone with any information is being asked to call the police.
