  1. Teachers' funding fears for breakfast clubs across the regionpublished at 10:30 British Summer Time 8 September 2017

    BBC Radio Humberside

There are concerns about the future of school breakfast clubs across northern Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire.

It's been revealed up to 6,000 clubs could be at risk across the country.

Research by the Centre for Economic Business, which surveyed schools across the UK, reveals that about 85% of teachers believe the breakfast club at their school could close within the next three years due to budget cuts.

A Department for Education spokeswoman said the government has committed to a £10m-a-year programme to expand breakfast clubs in up to 1,600 schools in England.

    Quote Message

We are proud to be funding the expansion of healthy breakfast clubs in many more schools across the country and have reviewed the evidence and lessons from our previous programme to ensure we effectively support schools and disadvantaged families."

The Lincolnshire RAF station, which is also home to the Red Arrows, will host five hours of flying displays on Saturday.

There will be increased security across the weekend due to recent terror attacks:

    Quote Message

Make sure you arrive in good time... Maybe limit what you're carrying because the more you carry, the more potentially the event organisers have to be vigilant."

  4. Healthwatch reflecting on Lincolnshire's yearpublished at 09:32 British Summer Time 8 September 2017

    Rod Whiting
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire News

Lincolnshire's Health watchdog will this morning reflect on what it says has been an exceptionally challenging year for services in the county at its annual general meeting in Horncastle.

Healthwatch, external has been monitoring pressures across the sector including Lincolnshire's hospitals being placed into special measures.

    Boston Pilgrim

Chief Executive Sarah Fletcher says it's been a very busy year:

    Quote Message

We've seen closures of GP surgeries; we've obviously had all the consultation over things like the closure of the walk-in centre; targets for accident and emergency; cancer targets are just not being met; things like care services, the pressures there. From a Healthwatch perspective, sometimes we don't know where to start. It seems absolutely overwhelming."

  6. Disappointment over Hardy's new developmentpublished at 08:51 British Summer Time 8 September 2017

    Lucy Parry
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire County Council says it's disappointed the owners of a huge new caravan village won't be contributing extra to road improvements in the area.

    Caravan park

Yesterday afternoon Hardy's Farm Limited was given permission to build the multi-million pound park for 1,000 static and touring caravans at Ingoldmells.

But East Lindsey District Council said the company didn't have to pay the £300,000 requested by the county council's highways department.

    Quote Message

When you look at the scale of the investment that's being made I don't think £300,000 is an extraordinarily large amount of money to ask for. When you consider the impact that all these additional cars are going to have on the area. Let's not forget it tends to be the same councillors who will be asking "What are you going to do about the traffic on the A52?".

Richard Davies, Lincolnshire County Council Highways

Hardy's say they're already spending £1.5m on improving the access to their site.

  13. Listen: Fears over town council numbers cut planspublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 7 September 2017

Town councillors in North Lincolnshire say they're worried about plans to reduce the size of town councils.

Last night a scrutiny committee meeting voted to take the plans to a meeting of the full council - they could then reduce the number of town councillors by ten at elections in two year's time.

In Brigg, where Mike Campion is a town councillor, this would cut the number from 19 to nine.

He says he is worried about the move:

  17. Hardy's Farm development given the go-aheadpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 7 September 2017

    Lucy Parry
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

In the past hour a huge new caravan park has been approved for the Lincolnshire coast.

    Caravan park

Hardy's Animal Farm at Ingoldmells will build plots for 1,000 static and touring caravans, as well as a hotel, pub and petrol station.

Hardy's won't have to pay £300,000 for road improvements requested by the county council or a further £80,000 towards the NHS.

They're already making road improvements as part of the application, and argued they shouldn't have to pay more.

Speaking at the meeting, East Lindsey District Councillor Dick Edgington said the county council had asked for too much money:

    Quote Message

It doesn't bode well on local authorities who try and demand, in my view, excessive financial contributions. It doesn't gel to me, local authorities and private enterprise should be working together for the betterment of the locality and the wider community and this just leaves a nasty taste in your mouth.

The Grade II-listed building is considered to be 'at risk' and this money will get a clear picture of the costs of the regeneration.

Once this viability report is finished the CIC, set up specifically to regenerate the theatre, can put in more applications for the repair work.

    Quote Message

We are working to re-establish a thriving theatre and community arts venue in Spilsby and open up this important heritage site in new imaginative ways, for all to enjoy.
