  3. Project to support homeless in Lincoln gets under waypublished at 08:42 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    A £1.3m project to help Lincolnshire's rough sleepers has begun.

    ACTion Lincs is a long-term programme for 120 of the county's most vulnerable homeless people.

    Twelve agencies have come together with the aim of providing housing, addiction support and access to education and employment.

    It's one of only eight projects nationally to receive this funding.

    But Ken Rustidge from the National Education Union in Lincolnshire, says it's not as good as it seems. He says the money won't be enough to protect struggling Lincolnshire schools from inflation and other costs.

    The A151 High Road near Moulton is closed in both directions between Hockney Hole Lane and Malten Lane.

    It's due to a crash near the Wesleyan Methodist Church.

    The road is likely to be closed into the evening.

  11. Leeds boy, 15, arrested after half-hour police pursuit on M62published at 16:44 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    A 15-year-old boy from Leeds who was allegedly driving a stolen car has been arrested after a police chase on the M62.

    The pursuit took place at about 14:00 on Wednesday when officers spotted a stolen Audi TT which had been taken from Barton-upon-Humber in North Lincolnshire back in July.

    Officers had picked up the car using Automatic Number Plate Recognition as it headed eastbound on the M62 at J32.

    After a pursuit lasting about half an hour - which headed off at J34 and onto the A19 - officers stopped the car and the driver and passenger ran off.

    A 15-year-old boy from Morley was arrested and is currently in custody, while the passenger is still at large, police say.

    A 14 year old girl has told police she was assaulted by three men on her way to school, external this morning.

    Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident at about 08:45 on a track alongside Playhouse Yard off Westgate in Sleaford.

    Three men are reported to have forced the girl to go with them to the area where she then manged to run away. She received two minor grazes but was otherwise physically unharmed.

    The three men are all described as being white and spoke with local accents.

    Police in Gainsborough say they won't tolerate nuisance bikers.

    Officers say there's been an increase in riders failing to stop and committing road offences in the town centre.

    Irresponsible bikers are being warned they could have their bikes seized and crushed if they receive two warnings within a year.

  14. Skegness man pleads not guilty to attempted murderpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    A 66-year-old Skegness man has pleaded not guilty at Lincoln Crown Court to a charge of attempted murder.

    Ian Brown from Scarborough Avenue, Skegness is accused of stabbing 24-year-old Henry Jarvis in the town on 7 August.

    A trial will be held early next year.

  15. Lincolnshire mums have big plans for play centrepublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Six mothers from Lincolnshire say they have big plans for a new play centre and meeting place for children and adults with additional needs.

    Charlotte Owen and Becky Wyatt (pictured with BBC Radio Lincolnshire presenter Melvyn Prior) are part of a group raising money for the Umbrella project.

    They both have sons with additional needs and say there are very few leisure facilities catering for people with conditions like ADHD, autism and Down's Syndrome.

    Police are appealing for witnesses, external after a man was kicked in the face and robbed in Lincoln last week.

    It happened outside the Premier Inn on Broadgate at about 01:00 on Tuesday 5 September.

    The man's bag, which contained photographic equipment, was stolen.

    It's thought one of the offenders, both of whom are described as white men, had a Scottish accent.
