    Lincolnshire Police say they're not treating the death of a man in Holbeach as suspicious.

    The body of the man in his 40s was discovered at a house on Fleet Street shortly after 09:00 on Monday.

    Officers say the incident is now being dealt with by the coroner.

    They're more used to dealing with missing people, but today Lincolnshire Police have made an appeal, external about a lost racing pigeon who's set up home on police property.

    For the past couple of weeks, the homesick pigeon's been living on a ledge at the force's Nettleham HQ, near Lincoln.

    Staff have managed to identify some of the numbers on its yellow leg ring - which are 126240 - but that's not enough to work out where it belongs.

    If you know where this poor pigeon should really be perched, you're being asked to get in touch with Lincolnshire Police.

    Two men have been charged in connection with alleged hare coursing in Lincolnshire.

    The men were arrested at Digby Fen between Lincoln and Sleaford on Monday, with two dogs also being seized, say police.

    They've been charged with hunting a wild mammal with dogs and are due to appear before Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Thursday 12 October.

    Traders in Scunthorpe are being asked for their views about a revamp of the town's market.

    North Lincolnshire Council wants to transform Scunthorpe's High Street as part of a £60m investment plan.

    The council has invited market traders and residents to have their say on the plans next week as part of a month-long consultation to inform the future direction of the market.

    The consultation event will be held on 20 September in Scunthorpe town centre.

    A new affordable housing development for older people in Skegness is proving so popular it's almost sold out before it's opened.

    The 17 flats, which cost £2m to build, are exclusively for local people aged over 55.

    Chapman Court officially opened yesterday, with Jan and Chris Dibb (pictured below) the first residents to move in.

    The flats have been built by county based LACE Housing, a charity which provides homes for older people.

    Hospital wards across Lincolnshire are set to benefit as 83 newly-qualified nurses start work in Lincolnshire this week, hospital bosses say.

    The nurses will boost staff numbers at Lincoln, Boston and Grantham hospitals where there are currently more than 200 unfilled nursing vacancies.

    United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust says it's working hard to make sure the new nurses stay in the county.

    It's after earlier recruitment drives saw staff brought in from other countries, only to see them quickly move on to more urban areas.

  7. Lincolnshire Police expect modern slavery workload to increasepublished at 10:04 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Following the sentencing of a traveller family who were convicted of modern day slavery offences Lincolnshire Police have told the BBC that they expect their modern day slavery workload to increase.

    They currently have five ongoing investigations whilst Humberside Police have three ongoing investigations.

    This morning, Detective Chief Superintendent Chris Davison, who's the force's head of crime, told BBC Radio Lincolnshire a specialist unit had now been set up to deal with modern slavery cases.

    A shop which saw its licence to sell alcohol revoked by officials in 2015 has lost it again after a second investigation.

    Boston Corner Shop, in West Street, Boston, was given the ban by Boston Borough Council after Lincolnshire Police produced evidence including illegal cigarettes (pictured below).

    The owners of the shop have 21 days to appeal before the ban comes into place.

    We were telling you earlier about the tree that had fallen across Union Road in Lincoln after last night's strong winds. Well the tree surgeons have now been in and it has been cleared so traffic in that area is back to normal.

    People living in the West Lindsey area may have to pay for their garden waste collections in future.

    It would be the last district in Lincolnshire to introduce the charges.

    The council says it is going to consult residents before a decision is made.

    But Councillor Sheila Bibb, who's in charge of the service, says the authority can't afford to keep the current service free.

  12. 'Keep your distance' warning around East Coast sealspublished at 08:30 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    Visitors to the Lincolnshire coast are being warned to take care around seals ahead of the grey seal breeding season.

    The warning comes from Sea Life Centre experts who say people need to take extra care on the east coast which is home to 50% of the world's population of grey seals.

    Thousands of people are drawn to see the seals at Donna Nook, between Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes, during the autumn breeding season.

    Todd German, senior aquarist based at the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough, says there's already been a "high level of disturbance" to seals this summer and people should keep their distance - especially around new-born seals.

  17. Storm Aileen: More power cuts reportedpublished at 07:21 British Summer Time 13 September 2017

    We're hearing there are more power cuts across the county this morning, with the figure hitting almost 2,000 homes affected at the height of the problems.

    Western Power Distribution says it has currently has 24 incidents ongoing across the county.

    Distribution manager Mark Hutchinson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire they were ready for the problems with more teams on standby, but it's difficult to predict how bad the damage would be until engineers got to sites to assess the situation.

    He says he's expecting more incidents to be reported as people wake up and realise their power's off.
