Earlier, we told you that Lincoln's High Street footbridge is to close for repairs, and people aren't happy.

Network Rail says its tried to repair the structure several times, but it now needs a longer closure to fix the problems.

But having cost £12m, people on Facebook, external have stern words for the company.

The University of Lincoln will have to renegotiate its student exchange programmes when Britain leaves the European Union, according to a senior lecturer.

It comes as Theresa May tells European leaders that both the UK and EU can be "optimistic about the future".

The university is currently taking part in research schemes and exchange scheme that non-EU states have to pay to be a part of.

Lincoln City said it is working with Lincolnshire Police to try to find the culprits behind the attack on Mansfield Town's team bus last Saturday.

The bus was targeted by what the Red Imps describe as "a small group of youths" at 16:15 on 23 September when it was at St Catherines, leaving the vehicle damaged and some club staff "distressed".

Mansfield won the match 1-0.

Lincoln's High Street footbridge is to close for two months for repairs - just over a year after it first opened.

Network Rail, who built the bridge at a cost of £12m, has tried to repair it several times but says it now needs a longer closure to fix the problems.

The bridge (pictured above during construction) was built after a long-running campaign by the city's former MP Karl McCartney, who said it was unacceptable that pedestrians had to wait at the level crossing - which closes several times an hour.

It will close on 1 October.

Resurfacing work on the level crossing itself will also take place throughout October.

A man has been jailed for two years for causing death by dangerous driving following a crash in which his passenger died.

Benjamin Hughes, 24, of Nottingham Road, Lowdham, pleading guilty in August to causing death by dangerous driving and driving with alcohol over the prescribed limit.

Dominique Wright, 23, from Lincolnshire, was in the vehicle which crashed in Southwell Road, between High Cross and Thurgarton Village on 30 October.

She died at the scene.

At Nottingham Crown Court earlier, Hughes has also been disqualified from driving for four years.

A £6m project to replace street lights in North Lincolnshire with more energy efficient ones is due to get under way next week.

The council say the new lights will use up to 75% less energy and save them around £500,000 once the work's done.

It currently costs North Linclonshire Council £1m a year to light our streets.

It'll take three years to replace all 21,000 light bulbs.

A small bat has had a "miraculous" escape after getting caught in a fishing line.

A passerby found the bat hanging from a tree over a fishing lake in Dunholme near Lincoln.

It's thought the bat had been there for about four days.

Its thought that the fishing line had become caught in the tree and was cut off, leaving the hook dangling.

Amazingly, the bat wasn't injured.

It's a lovely afternoon in Lincolnshire with plenty of sunshine.

There's light or moderate southwesterly winds and highs of 16C.

Patchy light rain is possible later but it should be a mild night.

A man has been taken to hospital following a crash near Grimsby this morning.

The accident involving two cars happened just off the A180 at the Pyewipe roundabout around 06:30.

A Renault Megane and an Audi Q5 collided.

The driver of the Renault vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

We've been given a glimpse behind the scenes of the filming for this weekend's episode of Victoria.

The cast and crew were at Harlaxton Manor near Grantham for a week of filming.

The manor will stand in for a French palace in the programme which is broadcast this Sunday at 21.00

We've just heard from Lincolnshire Police about delays on the A1 northbound near Grantham. They say there's a broken down vehicle at Stoke Rochford causing long tailbacks. Could take a while to clear.

One person has died in a house fire in Grimsby, external.

Fire crews were called to a flat in Purbeck Road, Scartho (pictured) just before 02:00 this morning.

Other flats in the building were evacuated and police have confirmed that a body was found in one of the flats.

A cordon is in place and police are investigating. They want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.

A man has needed surgery after he was seriously injured and knocked unconscious in a mass brawl in the centre of Boston.

Police say a group of women began arguing in the Stump & Candle pub at around 01:00 before the row spilled out into the street.

Police said the 39-year-old man who was injured was taken to hospital and has undergone surgery.

Police are looking through CCTV pictures and are urging witnesses to come forward.

We've reached a major milestone in our Save a Life campaign.

With the help of volunteers from LIVES, external first responders and St John's Ambulance, external, we've now trained 15,000 people.

There's lots more ways for you to learn, with events in Lincoln and Scothern this Saturday, and next month, St John's Ambulance will be touring the county with a mobile CPR classroom.

The Kings Head pub in Horncastle has had its famous thatch roof replaced, and there's a small surprise to top it off.

The pub, affectionately known as 'The Thatch' now has a life-size straw cat climbing its chimney.

Landlady Joanne Buckland says the thatch roof is a popular attraction for visitors.

The new thatch should last for 20 to 30 years and was laid by specialist thatchers from Cambridgeshire.
