  5. New footbridge to close for months after being plagued with problemspublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 22 September 2017

    Martin Slack
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

Lincoln's High Street footbridge is to close for two months for repairs - just over a year after it first opened.

Network Rail, who built the bridge at a cost of £12m, has tried to repair it several times but says it now needs a longer closure to fix the problems.

People wait at the level crossing at the foot of the footbridge.

The bridge (pictured above during construction) was built after a long-running campaign by the city's former MP Karl McCartney, who said it was unacceptable that pedestrians had to wait at the level crossing - which closes several times an hour.

It will close on 1 October.

Resurfacing work on the level crossing itself will also take place throughout October.

The Kings Head pub in Horncastle has had its famous thatch roof replaced, and there's a small surprise to top it off.

The pub, affectionately known as 'The Thatch' now has a life-size straw cat climbing its chimney.

Landlady Joanne Buckland says the thatch roof is a popular attraction for visitors.

The pub is covered in scaffolding as the new thatch is laid

The new thatch should last for 20 to 30 years and was laid by specialist thatchers from Cambridgeshire.

But it's the cat that might steal the show:
