    Katie O'Halloran

It's hoped that the scheme will save lives by transporting supplies quickly along the county's rural road network.

Last week we told you that Lincolnshire's "ambucopter" has become one of the first in the country to have blood on board.

The team of volunteers on the bike team say it's quicker to transport the blood on the bikes than using more conventional means.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust says that long distances between hospitals makes having blood on the helicopter a life saving tool:

    Hope Bolger
    Reporter - BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Engineers have started work on one of the county's biggest road resurfacing jobs.

    resurfacing

Three miles of road surface on the B1397 is being replaced between Gosberton and Sutterton, near Boston.

The county council says it'll take a fortnight to complete the work and cost £500,000.

One local resident said the roadworks would be "very annoying" but another conceded the existing road was "a hazard as it was".

County councillor Richard Davies says it's about time saving.

The council plan on filling potholes less and resurfacing roads more, that's why it's going to take so long:

  20. Be careful in the kitchenpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 18 September 2017

    David Sykes
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

After attending five kitchen fires over the weekend, Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue are urging people to be more careful while cooking.

Thankfully, fire alarms had alerted the residents in time and only one man had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Two of the fires were caused by toast being left in a toaster for too long.

The fire service says you should "NEVER leave cooking unattended", "DON'T cook if you feel tired or fatigued", and "Ensure smoke alarms are fitted".

Since two of the fires were caused by burning toast, it's probably also worth adding another warning of our own: DON'T burn the toast!
