It’s great that the mobile classroom tour has resulted in a further 271 people in Lincolnshire being taught CPR. The vehicle will be out in the county again before Christmas and we’ll continue to build on the total number of people trained via this method then.

    Harry Parkhill
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

A spokesman for a landlords' association says tenants are paying more rent than they ever have, and so deserve to live in safe properties.

Paul Shamplina, from Landlord Action, says that the "vast majority of landlords are good landlords" and "most landlords would actually reduce the rent to have tenants stay in there as long as possible."

It comes after a "record-breaking" fine for a landlord who was letting homes in Gainsborough without a licence.

Jagdish Singh, 59 of Southernhay Road, Leicester, was fined £108,000 for failing to license eight of his properties after a court case at Lincoln Magistrates court on Tuesday.

The mansion is described as being "untastefully decorated in a style of decaying splendour", and boasts a graveyard, prisoner cells and "only one way in and NO way out!".

The advert, external says it's currently owned by an aristocratic family of Transylvanian descent.

The small downside is that there's a small chance the whole thing is a promotional tool to encourage visitors to seaside resort Fantasy Island, over Hallowe'en.

I've had cancer myself and then when I was going through my cancer treatment my eldest sister was also diagnosed. Then when she was halfway through her treatment my other sister called me up to tell me her husband ,who was only 49 at the time, also had cancer ... four weeks after that he died.

  10. Boston bypass discussed in Commonspublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 20 October 2017

    Harry Parkhill
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

The Transport Secretary says he expects proposals for a long-awaited bypass around Boston.

In a debate in Parliament yesterday, the town's MP asked about funding for a bridge to complete a distributor road round the town.

I am well aware of the importance of the Boston bypass project. The town is situated on an A road with a congestion problem and is one of those for which I would expect to see proposals come forward for the bypass fund.

Chris Grayling, The Secretary of State for Transport

Congestion is a sore issue in the town (John Adams Way, pictured, is a local pinch point).

It once led to a single issue party called The Boston Bypass Party to win a landslide in local elections.

There are current plans for a distributor road, but the town is surrounded by rivers, drains and railway lines which make any road project an expensive job.

Matt Warman, MP for Boston and Skegness, asked the Secretary for State what he "will do to help us to deliver the expensive but vital bridge in the middle of the distributor road, which we cannot of course ask housing developers to fund entirely?"

The Secretary of State responded that "We will look very carefully at the bridge issue, and I am very happy to talk to him about that."

    Harry Parkhill
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

  12. Traffic lights could put school children at riskpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 20 October 2017

    Sarah Walton
    Reporter, BBC Look North

There are fears that multi-million pound plans to put traffic lights on a busy main road in North East Lincolnshire could put children at a nearby school at risk.

    tollbar barriers

Tollbar Academy in Grimsby says the new plan removes safety barriers which could make the road more dangerous.

Chair of the Govenors, Mr P Bond, says "it's a real concern about the safety of children outside of the Tollbar site", and says the council should "think again".

North East Lincolnshire Council proposed the idea because the existing layout is already dangerous but said it would take the school's opinions into account.

This local insight is vital in making the scheme a success and we're already planning changes based on what people have told us so far.

The unusual request comes from artist Luke Jerram who hopes to turn the basement of Gunby Hall (near Burgh Le Marsh) into a "Clock Garden".

The clocks will be clustered to form patterns and shapes along the floors and surfaces and set to different times so that visitors will hear ticking, clicking and chiming throughout the day.

If you want to donate an old clock visit the hall before it closes for the winter on October 29., external

    Quote Message

For me, Harrison's Garden is an imagined landscape; a garden of clocks. It is a glimpse of a surreal fictional world or perhaps an image from one of John Harrison's dreams. Like a garden, the installation is a living and growing collection of different clock species.
