  3. Mustard gas decontamination: What we know nowpublished at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November 2017

Work to remove contaminated soil from woods near Woodhall Spa gets under way today after canisters containing mustard gas dating back to World War One were found there last month.

With that work getting started, here's the story so far:

    • Police were called to Roughton Moor Woods on Sunday 1 October after the discovery of what was then described as a "World War Two device"
    • On 3 October, Lincolnshire Police confirmed the "device" was actually a collection of mustard gas canisters - chemical weapons used in World War One later banned by the Geneva Protocol in 1925
    • Two people were injured after discovering the canisters while searching for antique bottles. They were treated for burns and minor breathing problems
    • The find was declared as a "major incident" shortly afterwards. The Army, RAF bomb disposal experts, the Navy, the ambulance service, the fire service and Police were all involved

It's taken nearly 15 years, but work to transform a Lincolnshire village church into a community centre has finally begun.

    Benington church

Benington Church, near Boston, has been closed since 2003 but after a £1.8m grant from the Heritage Lottery, contractors have started work.

The 800-year-old Grade I-listed building will replace the current village hall as the community centre.

The process has taken so long because of the costs and complications of converting a church.
