    If you're dreaming of a white Christmas then you're almost certain to be disappointed in Lincolnshire this year.

    The weather forecast is predicting a mild, breezy and cloudy day on Christmas Eve (Sun) and Christmas Day (Mon).

    But if you're out for Christmas parties in the coming evenings you're in luck, because we're expecting lows of only eight degrees celsius up to Christmas.

  4. Ambulance service appeal after high number of calls

    East Midlands Ambulance Service has appealed for people to think twice before calling 999 this afternoon after a responding to a high number of calls.

    EMAS say to "Please think ‘Is there an alternative service I could use?’".

    They recommend contacting your pharmacy, the NHS Choices website or calling the non-emergency 101 number before 999 if it's not an emergency.

  5. Investment in body cameras after attacks on staff

    There were more than 150 incidents where staff at hospitals in Grimsby, Goole and Scunthorpe were attacked last year, according to the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust.

    That is why it says security staff have been given hi-tech body cameras, to try and deter anti-social behaviour.

    The cameras will be worn by the staff who patrol the hospitals and car parks, and have been bought by the security firm which employs them.

  6. 'Unexplained' death couple named

    A man and woman found dead in Holbeach yesterday lunchtime are thought to be 75-year-old Michael Cobley and 46-year-old Zanna Ernstone.

    The couple were found dead in a property in Holbeach at midday yesterday.

    Police are treating the deaths as unexplained.

  7. Police appeal after football train disturbance

    A train guard refused to travel on a train filled with Grimsby Town football fans because they were "so drunk and overbearing".

    The same journey also left a teenage girl and her grandmother scared to travel again after "unwanted touching" and "lewd sexual comments" from football fans.

    Fans were leaving on a train from Lincoln to Nottingham on Saturday 16 December to watch Grimsby Town play Notts County.

    British Transport Police say passengers were throwing beer cans, taking photos of other passengers and rocked the train on its tracks.

    They are appealing for witnesses.

  8. Fourteen "named and shamed" for drink-driving

    Lincolnshire Police have "named and shamed" 14 people for drink-driving since a new campaign began last week.

    The force is publishing the names of those they've breathalysed and found to be above the limit.

    Since their Think Don’t Drink campaign began on Saturday 16 December 14 people's details have been published.

    Today four more men, aged between 22 and 32, have been named.

    They'll appear at Boston and Lincoln Magistrates' Court in the new year.

  9. Dog seizures deterring hare coursers - Police

    A crackdown on suspected hare coursers - including the seizure of suspects' dogs - is working, according to Lincolnshire Police.

    Officers are using laws which allow them to take away dogs for a day or longer if they're part of a prosecution case.

    In three months, 49 dogs have been taken away from suspected coursers, including Barry (pictured above).

    Police forces from around the country say hare coursers have been put off travelling to Lincolnshire to take part in the illegal sport.

    The feedback other police forces are getting is that those hare coursers won't come to Lincolnshire because of the risk of losing their dogs. That's a good thing for us."

  10. Sleaford school celebrates Christmas song success

    A festive song written by a Lincolnshire school has made it into the top 100 Christmas singles chart on iTunes.

    The song, A William Alvey Christmas, was made by pupils and staff at the school in Sleaford.

    Chris Clark, the teacher behind it, says the success has been amazing for the school:

    It's huge. I think it's definitely worthy of all the success, but as you know in this day and age it's pretty difficult. So to have some success without any backing is pretty amazing."

  11. Work begins on new Grantham cinema

    Film fans in Grantham rejoice! Work has begun on a multi-million pound leisure complex in the town which will include a five-screen cinema.

    Today it's been announced that Savoy Cinemas, which runs Boston's West End Cinema (pictured above), will operate the complex.

    The site, on St Catherine's Road, has been cleared and initial groundwork has started, but work will properly begin in the New Year.

    Grantham has huge potential and we have been extremely keen to open a cinema here for some time. We anticipate welcoming about 250,000 people through the doors every year, many of whom will visit the town centre."

  12. Plan to triple number of Lincolnshire hospital volunteers

    A recruitment drive is being launched to triple the number of hospital volunteers in Lincolnshire.

    Just under 300 people currently give their time to the county's hospitals trust, which is now aiming to increase that number to 1,000.

    Paul Cartwright (pictured above) won the trust's Volunteer of the Year award and will be one of many working on Christmas Day.

    I believe making a cup of tea is the world to some patients, and obviously talking to patients. I just generally help, which obviously the nurses can't do because they're so busy."

  13. Church closure ahead of Christmas is "frustrating"

    The vicar of St Swithin's Church in Lincoln says it's frustrating that they've had to close their church ahead of Christmas.

    A potential defect in a ceiling panel has meant the church has closed for its christmas services whilst the roof is checked by experts.

    The Reverend Jim Prestwood says that the increased popularity of the church may have exacerbated some of its maintenance issues.

    The congregation has increased from just ten attendees every Sunday to 300 in three years.

    The services will now be held at the All Saints' Church on Monk's Road in the city.

    It is frustrating but on the other hand there's a kind of irony that at a time of year when Mary and Joseph had nowhere to call home, here we are without a home, so there's something maybe significant about worshipping in a place unfamiliar to us, and not as planned. So there's frustration but also some excitement around it as well bizarrely.

  14. Car fire on Holdingham roundabout

    A car is currently on fire at the Holdingham roundabout, near Sleaford.

    Fire crews are at the scene.

    The blaze is causing traffic delays on the A15 and A17 approaching the roundabout, as well as causing delays in Sleaford town centre.

  15. Holton-le-Clay body identified as missing teenager

    A body found in the village of Holton-le-Clay in Lincolnshire last weekend has been identified as 19-year-old Liam Toner.

    Mr Toner was reported missing after a night out in Cleethorpes last Friday.

    His body was found by a roadside in Holton-le-Clay, where flowers have been laid as tribute.

    Tests have shown there were no suspicious circumstances, according to Lincolnshire Police.

    Officers will be working with colleagues in the Humberside force to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

  16. New owners for Barton Ropewalk

    Barton-upon-Humber's historic Ropewalk building will be officially transferred to new owners today.

    The arts and live music venue has been bought by the Waterside Artists' Co-operative after the group won a £100,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

    The group, which has been running the centre since 2000, says it secures the future of the Grade II-listed building.

  17. 'Save a life' CPR campaign nears 20,000 target

    Did you know that BBC Radio Lincolnshire's Save a Life campaign has so far trained just under 20,000 people in the lifesaving skill of CPR?

    And now the radio station wants your help to cross the finish line - and you can help reach the 20,000 mark by visiting BBC Radio Lincolnshire's HQ today and be trained in CPR by Lives First Responders.

    The Save a Life scheme started after BBC Radio Lincolnshire newsreader Charlotte Wright suffered a cardiac arrest while jogging in the uphill area of Lincoln in November 2016.

    The newsreader was saved by passers-by who performed CPR until medics arrived.

  18. Deadline day for British Steel pension decision

    British Steel workers in Scunthorpe have until today to make a decision about the future of their pensions.

    More than 120,000 workers have had to choose between two new pension plans.

    There had been calls to put the deadline back over concerns about poor financial advice and tight deadlines.

  19. Woman dies in fatal Grimsby fire

    A woman in her 30s died in a house fire in Grimsby yesterday, police have confirmed.

    The fire started in the living room of a house on Baroness Road at about 15:30 on Thursday.

    Police say they're not treating the blaze as suspicious.

  20. Investigation into Grimsby house fire death

    An investigation in to the cause of a house fire which left one person dead is under way.

    Fire crews were sent to the fire which started in the living room of a property on Baroness Road yesterday afternoon.

    No details about the victim have been disclosed by the fire service.
