    Hope Bolger
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

I've been out in Lincolnshire with the crews harvesting the sprouts set to grace many a Christmas dinner table across the country - and it's hard work.

Lincolnshire's veg is in high demand over Christmas.

Here's a rundown of what we produce as a county for the festive dinner table:

    • 650,000 tonnes of potatoes
    • 100,000 tonnes of sprouts
    • One million turkeys

Basically, the country couldn't do Christmas without Lincolnshire!

You can see how the sprout harvest is carried out right here:

People are being warned over the dangers of being burned in their beds after 44,000 illegal cigarettes were seized in Scunthorpe.

Many of the counterfeit cigarettes found by North Lincolnshire Trading Standards weren't self extinguishing - the kind blamed for some house fire deaths.

Sleaford-based North Kesteven District Council says the High Court in Birmingham has granted the order for Byard's Leap, on the A17.

The authority says there has been persistent unauthorised caravan camping on this stretch of the High Dike and at least two encampments on the land each year.

    Quote Message

By taking out an injunction on the land we are further protecting our green space in the district. We have acted quickly to prevent any travellers returning to the site, and hope this sends a clear message to anyone who was thinking of using unauthorised camping sites in the area."

  9. Lincoln city centre refurb work delayed - againpublished at 15:54 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2017

    Seb Tiley
    Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

The completion of a revamp of Lincoln High Street has been postponed for a second time.

    high street

The project, which is costing taxpayers about £800,000, is supposed to see one of the city's main shopping areas repaved.

The scheme, between St Mary's Street and Tentercroft Street (pictured), was supposed to be finished before Lincoln Christmas Market at the beginning of December.

But it was put off by contractor North Midland Construction and temporary asphalt surfacing was laid.

It was promised then that the work would be done by Christmas.

But now that deadline has also been missed because of "freezing temperatures", according to North Midland Construction.

It's hoped the work will now be completed in the new year.

  10. Hare coursing crackdown in Lincolnshirepublished at 15:27 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2017

    Lucy Parry
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

I'm out today with police officers who are clamping down on hare coursing in Lincolnshire.

They've been stopping suspects in the south of the county, confiscating dogs and moving hare coursers on.

But before they leave, the police are telling them to clean up their cars:

A so-called dispersal order is in place to allow police to move on groups of suspected coursers.

But in order to make any arrests police have to catch them in the act - which is very difficult.

It's been sent to us via Twitter by Arlene Towriss and I just couldn't resist sharing it.

I'm told the cloud formations are called Kelvin Helmholtz waves.

They're named after scientists Lord Kelvin and Hermann von Helmholtz who studied the physics that lead to this beautiful type of cloud formation.
