    A man in his 50s has been left with bruises and swelling in what police are calling a "vicious unprovoked assault" in a supermarket car park.

    The attack happened on Friday 8 December at 17:30 as the man was trying to exit Aldi's supermarket in Gainsborough.

    Police say a boy blocked his path and after the driver got out of his car the boy allegedly struck him.

    Police say there would have been numerous witnesses they'd like to talk to, external.

    Investigations are continuing this morning into the unexplained deaths of two people in Holbeach.

    A man and a woman were found in a bungalow on Wilder's Garth in the town at midday yesterday.

    A church in Lincoln has been forced to close temporarily because of "unforeseen maintenance issues".

    Staff at St Swithin's say people's safety is their main priority and experts are thoroughly checking the building.

    They're looking for alternative arrangements for their Christmas services.

    Lincoln’s newest car park has already been named one of the country's safest despite only opening just over a month ago

    The City of Lincoln Council which built the new Lincoln Central car park as part of the new £30m transport hub project - unveiled the Park Mark award earlier today.

    Before a car park can receive the award, it undergoes a series of rigorous tests by specially trained police assessors.

    A car park is assessed on several factors such as location, personal safety, lighting, absence of graffiti, ability to find a space easily and more.

    If you're in Louth doing your Christmas shopping over the next few days you might see this poster in some of the windows.

    It shows that the trader is part of a new scheme - which aims to help people if they have an illness or injury on the street.

    It's been thought up by the Louth Independent Traders group.

    They say they were inspired to take action after a recent incident where an elderly man fell in the street and was left waiting in the cold for an ambulance.

  13. Three fire engines at house fire in Grimsbypublished at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2017

    Humberside Fire and Rescue Service are currently attending a house fire on Baroness Road in Grimsby.

    They were called at 15:36 after smoke was seen coming out of a window.

    Three fire engines arrived within six minutes.

    It's unclear at this stage what's the cause of the fire and if anyone was in the house, firefighters are still at the scene.

    Several heavy goods vehicles were involved in a crash earlier this morning on the A180 near Ulceby.

    The incident happened around 08:00 this morning and the A180 westbound now has one lane open.

    Humberside Police say the second lane of both the eastbound and westbound carriageways will remain closed from the A160 to Barnetby Top until the central reservation barrier can be repaired overnight.

    Detectives have launched an inquiry this afternoon after two bodies were discovered at a property in Holbeach.

    Lincolnshire Police say they're treating the deaths as unexplained. Officers were called to the address in Willder's Garth just after noon today.

    Around 120 properties are without power near Hessle, Cottingham and Grimsby.

    Northern Powergrid say it's due to an unexpected problem with the electricity cables, external which serve each area.

    They estimate that the power will be restored at properties near Hessle around 16:00, properties in Grimsby around 17:45 and Cottingham around 20:00.

  18. Council voices frustration over High Street refurb delayspublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2017

    Council highways bosses have spoken of their frustration over delayed work to a flagship project in Lincoln city centre.

    Contractor North Midland Construction said yesterday it would not be able to complete the improvement work on the city's High Street before Christmas as promised.

    The project had originally been scheduled to finish in time for the city's Christmas Market, but was not ready. Temporary surfacing has been put down.

    John Monk, who's in charge of the scheme between St Marks and St Mary's Street, says he's not happy with the situation:

  19. Thousands of homeless young people seek council helppublished at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2017

    Thousands of young people in the Yorkshire and Humber region asked councils for help last year because they had no home, it's emerged.

    Figures obtained by the youth charity Centrepoint show nearly 3,000 16 to 25-year-olds approached their local council because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness.

    A parrot sanctuary in Lincolnshire is having to expand because of a rise in the number of unwanted birds.

    The Lincolnshire Wildlife Park plans to add a £250,000 building to its site near Boston because it's running out of space.

    Staff at the attraction, in Friskney, say they've seen a 250% increase in the number of birds brought to them by people who no longer want their pets in the last 12 months.
