    The final phase of a major decontamination operation in Lincolnshire is due to take place next week, following last year's discovery of 150 mustard gas canisters.

    Two people suffered minor burns after the canisters were unearthed near Woodhall Spa on 1 October.

    Royal Navy and Army bomb disposal teams have since cleared canisters from Roughton Moor and a lake in nearby Stixwould.

    MoD operatives wearing protective clothing will be on site from 11 March for the final phase of work to make the site safe.

    Security arrangements for the affected area will be reviewed once the work has been carried out.

    Footage showing a robber pushing a 90-year-old man off his walking frame in Lincoln has been issued by police in a bid to find his attacker.

    During the assault, the victim had his holdall stolen, which contained his food shopping as well as his wallet and cash.

    The robber, described as a young man, carried out the attack at about noon on Monday 12 February, close to the shops on Woodfield Avenue, in Birchwood.

    Grantham Swimming Club members have been crowned county champions after bringing home 141 medals from recent events and topping the county table by 20 points.

    Club member and para-swimmer Hayley Milne earned a place in the record books after setting a British record in the 100m butterfly, beating the previous category record by four seconds.

    Maciej Rakowski, the club's head coach, says the recent successes are its members' "biggest achievement by far".

    Jolley will work with Wilkinson, who took caretaker charge following Russell Slade's sacking last month.

    Jolley says he's comfortable with the club's decision and says Wilkinson knows the players and the staff well.

    Four tiny kittens have been abandoned in a bag in the toilets of a Lincolnshire pub.

    The kittens, which the RSPCA said were no more than a week old, were found inside the plastic bag in the men's toilets at a Wetherspoons in Lincoln.

    Staff are now reviewing CCTV in a bid to trace the person who dumped them.

    Residents in West Lindsey will pay an extra 3% in council tax to the district council.

    West Lindsey District Council approved its budget for 2018-19 at a meeting on Monday.

    The council estimates the budget will generate additional revenue of £31,000 in 2018-19, rising to £215,000 by the 2022-23 financial year.

    The move equates to an increase of £6.03 in general council tax and will see Band D properties pay £207.27 per year instead of £201.24.

    Three people from Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire have received honours in a special ceremony today at Buckingham Palace.

    Playwright John Godber was awarded an OBE for services to the arts, Dave Steenvoorden from the Humber Lifeboat station received an MBE for services to maritime safety, and Patricia Hiley (pictured above) was given an MBE in recognition of 32 years of service to adoption in Lincolnshire.

    John Godber (pictured above) said the honour was a great surprise as he showed off his OBE received today from the Duke of Cambridge.

    In Yorkshire and the Humber nearly 1,000 referrals were made to the police and local authorities following concerns for children's safety.

    A report by HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services said it had "found a number of potential ligature points in all suites across the force custody estate".

    There were also issues with providing "appropriate adults" supervision for all children and vulnerable adults.

    The force said it was improving areas that fall below the standards.

    Councils in Lincolnshire should be allowed to build more homes to address the housing crisis, says one leader.

    Gary Porter, leader of South Holland and chair of the Local Government Association, has responded to the government's pledge to overhaul the system.

    Councils have been threatened with action if they don't grant enough permissions.

    Developers have also been warned they could have permission to build withdrawn if they don't build quickly enough.

    An 11-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car at Manby, near Louth.

    The girl, who was a pedestrian, was taken to Queen's Medical Centre, in Nottingham, with serious injuries.

    Only 38% of clinical commissioning groups in England offer the treatment.

    A specialist team, which is based at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham, says more needs to be done to tackle the "postcode lottery".

    A week of bad weather has made Lincolnshire's potholes worse and there are concerns they are not being fixed quickly enough.

    Lincolnshire County Council announced recently that it is dipping in to its reserves to help pay for more repairs and will spend an extra £9m to fix some of the worst potholes.

    Experts say it'll take a long time for fish stocks to recover on the River Witham, in Lincolnshire, after thousands of fish were found dead.

    Investigations are now under way to try and find out where the high levels of ammonia came from, which killed tens of thousands of fish, between Bardney and Boston.

    The Environment Agency says it will prosecute those responsible.
