The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust said that 500kg was picked up in their most recent beach clean, 80kg of the waste was plastic.

The most common litter the trust finds is plastic crisp packets, some of which were over 20 years old.

The charity says "single use plastics will continue to cause problems in oceans around the world for years to come."

It comes after the government announced a plan to ban the sale of plastic straws, drinks stirrers and cotton buds in England.

    Quote Message

The amount of plastic we've produced in over 50-60 years is a phenomenal amount. It's something we need to be looking at, even if it's just small behaviour changes we can make on a day to day basis, they're going to make a massive difference in the long-term"

    Quote Message

One reason we're trying that we're saving it, as well as a pub as such, is we're hoping to open it up to the community. We could make the pub more attractive to more of the people locally here"
