  1. Houseboat 'joyriders' leave owners pride and joy ruinedpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 17 April 2018

    This is how houseboat owner Sean Chambers found his "pride and joy" after it was taken from moorings in a Lincolnshire village.

    Police are now looking for two youths who were seen driving the boat through Lincoln city centre on the Fosdyke Canal yesterday teatime.

    Mr Chambers, pictured above, says the boat was taken from Saxilby, about six miles outside Lincoln, and dumped on the other side of the city centre at Stamp End.

    It's thought the thieves couldn't get the boat through the lock there.

    Police are now investigating and have appealed for anyone who saw the boat yesterday to get in touch.

    A new pirate-themed green space opened at St Andrew’s Hospice in Grimsby today.

    It was designed by award-winning garden designer Jody Lidgard (pictured below) who is originally from the town.

    He worked with the Greenfingers Charity, external to design and create a garden which would provide life-limited children with a feast of new sensory experiences.

    Jody said he felt privileged to be able to help children in his home town.

    In two weeks 5,000 people have sign up to My Community Alert, Humberside Police’s new messaging facility.

    It allows residents to receive real-time messages about incidents, including information ranging from appeals about missing people to notifications about road closures.

    Since going live, the top three sections that people have signed up for are community safety messages, emergency road closures/disruptions and flood warnings and alerts.

  4. New caravan park for Skegness wins approvalpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 17 April 2018

    Plans have been approved for the creation of a new 29 static caravan park in Skegness.

    Lincs Design Consultancy submitted plans to change the use of land off Burgh Road for the caravans, a Local Democracy reporter says.

    The land surrounds existing holiday parks and leisure facilities to the north of the site.

    East Lindsey District Council has approved the proposals. No objections were made against the application.

    A Lincolnshire village which lost its GP services will see a "satellite service" return to the community next month.

    The GP surgery in Wainfleet, near Skegness, closed nearly 18 months ago after concerns were raised by health watchdog the Care Quality Commission

    Since then patients have had to go to Skegness to see a doctor and there has been anger in the community, with a campaign launched to have services reinstated.

    The Lincolnshire East Clinical Commissioning Group, which is responsible for providing GP services in the area, says the new service will operate on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from May 1.

    A cinema which has been a fixture in a Lincolnshire town for 35 years will show its final feature next week.

    The Reel Cinema in Grantham first opened as the Paragon in the 1980s.

    A new multiplex cinema planned for the town is scheduled to open next year.

    It will be run by Nottingham-based Savoy Cinemas.

    Bicycle theft is on the rise across our area.

    A new report by the insurance company Direct Line reveals that nationally annual insurance claims for bike theft are more than £7.5m.

    Incidents have increased by 17% in the past three years with one bike stolen every six minutes.

    It seems that 1,919 bikes were stolen in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire last year.

    Humberside Police have a number of cycle security schemes, external running across the force and they work with local cycle shops to try and prevent theft.

    The 37-year-old has Asperger syndrome and has been missing since yesterday morning.

    Simon left his home on High Street, Kirton in Lindsey to go to work and hasn’t been seen since.

    He requires medication which he didn’t take last night.

    Humberside Police say he has access to money and has a bus pass with him, but his mobile phone is switched off.

    He walks in a distinctive fashion.

    A woman from Grimsby who started a campaign calling for the return of traditional county names is in London today to ask for support from politicians.

    Pamela Moorhouse wants to get rid of the use of North and North East Lincolnshire which were created in 1996 after Humberside was abolished.

    She wants the area to be simply called Lincolnshire.

    A decision on whether to lay an underground power cable in Lincolnshire has been postponed until May.

    The Viking Link, which will import power from Denmark to a distribution station at Bicker near Boston, was due to get the go ahead in March.

    The multi-million pound project has already been approved by several Lincolnshire councils - but still needs government approval.

    The cable would come ashore at Sutton-on-Sea (above).

    More children in Lincolnshire have secured places at their first choice of primary school than last year.

    The County Council says it's 95% for this September.

    Those offered second or third choices have until the middle of next month to appeal.

    It is a different picture nationally though, as the Good Schools Guide , externalsays up to 60,000 children across the country could miss out.

    A man has been arrested after acting suspiciously in North East Lincolnshire.

    Humberside Police has received several reports of women being followed by a man in a white car, external in Cleethorpes and Grimsby
