    The world-famous steam locomotive Flying Scotsman is scheduled to be stop off in Lincoln later as it makes its way from London King's Cross to Scarborough.

    It will also pass through Sleaford, Gainsborough and Spalding if the services runs to schedule.

    The last banks in Alford and Coningsby are set to close by the end of October, according to Lloyds Banking Group.

    Three banks in Mablethorpe, Coningsby and Alford are due to be closed by the financial giant after it announced that 49 branches are to close across the country.

    The closures will mean that Coningsby and Alford will no longer have branches of any banks left.

    Mablethorpe will still have one left, although all three towns have Post Offices which offer banking services.

    The Coningsby branch (pictured) will close on 15 October, Mablethorpe's will shut the day after and Alford's on 23 October.

    Plans for a lakeside campsite which includes "glamping pods" and "Hobbit hotels" are expected to be given planning approval in Lincolnshire next week.

    The site, at Potterhanworth in North Kesteven, will include five "Hobbit hotels" based on the home occupied by Frodo and Bilbo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit (pictured).

    It also includes plans for twelve glamping pods and thirteen static caravans spread around Rushfield Lakes in the village.

    The lake is already used for fishing.

    North Kesteven District Council has recommended to approve the plans, and has seen support from Lincoln's tourism board, Visit Lincoln.

    A Lincolnshire gin company has won a Bronze Medal at a national spirits award.

    Pin Gin, which is based in Louth, won the award at the London Spirits Competition this week, only a year after the company began trading.

    The gin is brewed in a garage behind the owners' home and aims to celebrate the "past, present and future of the county of Lincolnshire".

  12. "Senior police officer" suspended after assault allegationpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 18 April 2018

    More now on that Police officer who has been suspended after being accused of assault.

    It's now understood that the officer involved is a senior officer with Lincolnshire Police.

    The incident happened in Lincoln on Good Friday.

    The officer has been suspended from duty while the force investigates what happened.

  13. Lincolnshire hospitals join 'PJ Paralysis' campaignpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 18 April 2018

    Patients arriving at hospitals in Lincolnshire are being encouraged to bring daytime clothes rather than pyjamas, to help them recover quicker.

    'PJ Paralysis' is a national campaign which says that recovery times improve if patients get up and move about rather than lie in bed.

    Hospitals run by United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust are all taking part in the campaign, which it's hoped will improve turnaround times on bed blocked wards.

    Clare Carr, who's in charge of outgoing patients at Pilgrim Hospital, says there's a psychological effect to being in hospital and admits that they "don't do enough to encourage patients to get up and keep mobile".

  14. Warnings of 'bogus officials from crime agency'published at 13:52 British Summer Time 18 April 2018

    Lincolnshire Police are issuing more warnings about criminals impersonating staff from the National Crime Agency.

    The force says bogus "officials" are trying to get people to withdraw money and hand it over.

    You're being urged to tell elderly or vulnerable friends and relatives to be aware of the tactics.

    A "severe shortage" of paediatricians and specialist nurses at Lincolnshire's hospitals has prompted an urgent review of children's services in Boston and Lincoln.

    Speaking at a health watchdog meeting at Lincolnshire County Council, managers of United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust, revealed there's particular concern around services in Boston.

    Children's surgery has also been temporarily suspended at Pilgrim Hospital.

    Directors at the trust say they're "significantly concerned" about staffing levels.

    Britain In Bloom's programme came in for criticism on social media last night after it misspelt the town's name.

    The programme on BBC TV was showcasing the town's eccentric flower displays, including one featuring Harry Potter and another with a Dalek made out of a pile of compost and a toilet plunger.

    But on a map shown in the programme (pictured) Mablethorpe was spelled "Maplethorpe", and The Royal Horticultural Society called it "Maplethope" on Twitter.
