  2. Dambuster to break ground on 'gateway' sculpturepublished at 08:29 British Summer Time 15 May 2018

    Britain's last surviving Dambuster, George "Johnny" Johnson, is due to break ground on a new memorial to World War Two aircrews later.

    Mr Johnson, who was born near Horncastle, has been invited to take part in the ceremony by the Bomber County Gateway Trust, external, which has drawn up the plans for the memorial.

    A giant sculpture of a Lancaster Bomber is to be built at Norton Disney near Lincoln, close to the A46.

    The people behind it say it'll welcome people as a gateway to "Bomber County" and serve as a major tourist attraction.

    A court has heard how a CCTV camera was moved to prevent it filming a violent attack near a shopping centre in Grimsby.

    Anthony Richardson, 45, died of his injuries in January after being attacked near the Freshney Place shopping centre.

    Marc Finnie, 44, and his wife Sarah, 36, both of Grimsby, each deny murder.

    A third defendant, Gary Clarke, who also works a security guard at the shopping centre, denies assisting the couple.

    The trial continues.

    A dog owner has told how his pet has been "missing" for more than two months since the RSPCA raided kennels in north Lincolnshire.

    The charity went into 4Paws Vets and Rescue Centre at Killingholme in March and took about 100 dogs as part of a "welfare investigation".

    Mr Hamilton said he had not been told whether his dog Wally is even alive, which he added was a "terrifying prospect".

    The RSPCA said all the dogs remain in the care of the police and the Dogs Trust.

    The Home Office minister and Lincolnshire MP Victoria Atkins is being accused of a "massive conflict of interest" because her husband is the managing director of a company legally growing cannabis.

    Paul Kenward, who is married to the MP for Louth and Horncastle, is managing director of British Sugar, licensed to grow non-psychoactive cannabis.

    The Home Office said Ms Atkins declared the fact in parliament when she was appointed as a minister in 2017.

    A statement goes on to say she's not taken part in policy or decisions relating to cannabis since becoming Minister for Crime last November.

    Peter Reynolds from Clear, Campaign for Cannabis law reform, external, said the MP was directly benefiting from tight restrictions on who can grow the plant.

    Four police officers were assaulted in two separate incidents in Scunthorpe over the weekend.

    One officer was bitten and left with facial injuries during an incident on Grosvenor Street North in the town on Sunday.

    Another three officers were injured as they tried to restrain a man on Teale Street on Saturday.

    Humberside Police said it wouldn't tolerate assaults on its' officers.

    The council's ruling Labour group were left with a one seat majority over the Conservatives following this month's local elections.

    The parties say they haven't formed a coalition but will work together on key issues on a "confidence and supply" basis.

    The paintings, by Dan Llewellyn-Hall, used mugshots of individual crew members taken before the raid flown from RAF Scampton set off 75 years ago this week.
