A newly-built school in Boston, which only opened four years ago, is now surrounded by scaffolding.

    School

Boston Pioneers Academy said a number of issues have arisen with its Fydell Crescent building.

Issues requiring attention include the cladding and decking.

    School

Officials have stressed their cladding is not similar to that used on Grenfell Tower.

The issue relates to imitation wood which is bowing in places.

The decking needs replacing because it becomes slippery when wet.

  2. Lincolnshire's recycling rules 'daft'published at 11:03 British Summer Time 26 September 2018

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

The head of Lincolnshire's Waste Partnership says the county's recycling rules are "a nightmare".

His comments come after it emerged different areas have different rules - even though all the waste goes to the same place.

For example, in North Kesteven and South Holland you are allowed to put plastic carrier bags in your recycling bin, but everywhere else you can't.

    Recycling

This is despite the fact that everything collected ends up with the same company - Mid UK Recycling Ltd.

Councillor Eddie Poll, from the county's waste partnership, says the confusion dates from a time when each council had contracts with different waste companies.

He says if the rules were changed overnight the current bin lorry routes wouldn't be able to handle the extra rubbish.

    Quote Message

I know it seems daft. Please give them time to work through the rearrangements they need to make. To make sure that when we do get to common rules we can take it all away and not leave anything by the kerbside."

There's been an increase in the number of patients being removed from GP lists in Lincolnshire, according to figures obtained by the BBC.

144 people were removed by doctors at surgeries across the county in 2017.

Doctors can remove patients from their list if they believe they can't provide good clinical care.

It usually follows a breakdown of trust between doctor and patient.

Lincolnshire's Healthwatch has said it is concerned about the number of people being struck-off lists.

NHS England say sometimes there is an irrevocable breakdown.

It added any patient who is removed by a practice will be supported to find a suitable alternative doctor.

A Lincolnshire police officer has been sacked because of inappropriate behaviour.

A misconduct panel, held at the force's HQ, found the officer committed gross misconduct by entering relationships with female members of the public.

The officer resigned ahead of the hearing.

    Quote Message

There is no room for such behaviour by police officers. The standards of professional behaviour were breached in a serious manner and it was paramount that public confidence in the police service be restored. There can be only one outcome and that was dismissal."

The Chair of Lincolnshire's Police Federation says possible cuts to the county's police force can't be allowed to go ahead.

Jon Hassall says he's "horrified" at the situation because the force is already stretched too thin.

    Quote Message

I think we're operating on the limit now with the numbers of police officers that we have. I think it's untenable to even think about reducing the number of police officers and that's a position we find ourselves in because of what the government has done to policing.

Jon Hassall, Lincolnshire Police Federation chair

The Home Office says it is increasing investment in the police nationally - and that Lincolnshire will get a funding increase of more than £3m next year.
