    The seafood industry is worth nearly £10bn a year and northern Lincolnshire is one the biggest centres for seafood processing in the country.

    Active Lincolnshire says getting people to move more could reduce the number of premature deaths in the county.

    Armed police officers are involved in drugs operation in Lincoln city centre.

    Lincolnshire Police say it relates to a so-called county lines network.

    They say St Rumbold’s Street at the junction of Friars Lane and Montague Street, as well as Rosemary Lane will be closed while the operation takes place.

    A boy from Huddersfield who has been missing for almost two months could be in Skegness according to police.

    Eli Jones, also known as Eli Child, was last seen in the Fixby area of Huddersfield at 01:30 on 29 August.

    The 16-year-old has links to Skegness.

    West Yorkshire Police say there have been no confirmed sightings of him since he was reported missing.

    Lincoln MP, Karen Lee, says the city must get the direct rail service to London that was previously promised.

    Labour's Ms Lee was speaking during a special debate on future investment in the East Coast Main Line.

    She said the termination of the East Coast franchise, as well as the chaos caused by recent timetable changes, is of great concern in the city.

    Rail minister, Jo Johnson, said improvements would be more gradual than planned, but Lincoln will get its extra services.

    Armed police will patrol the Lincoln Christmas Market again this year in response to what officials call a "continued security threat".

    Extra security is also being planned, with all vehicle movements in the market area banned for the entire four days.

    Lincolnshire Police say they want to find a man who reported a stabbing in Boston town centre.

    They've released CCTV images of a man who may have used a phone kiosk to call for an ambulance on 5 August.

    Police say they want to talk to the man as a witness, and don't believe he's connected to the incident itself.

    The life and work of Grantham suffragette Mary Anne Rawle is to be marked with a commemorative blue plaque.

    The Grantham Civic Society say it wanted to recognise the local activist for her efforts in fighting for women's suffrage.

    The Lincoln Warm Rail, external is back from the ashes.

    A builder has created a new one to replace the original, which was destroyed in an arson attack.

    The original rail was put up by community group, Compassionate Lincoln, to offer warm clothing and other items to people sleeping rough, but it was ruined in a blaze on 5 January.

    It has now been replaced outside the YMCA shop on Sincil Street, but will only be accessible during opening hours.

  12. Thousands to be spent on Boston toiletspublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 17 October 2018

    Public toilets in Boston are to be improved at a cost of £12,500.

    Boston Borough Council say the money will be spent on replacing electric sensor taps with manual push ones.

    Flooring will also be replaced and security grilles will be placed over doors to stop vandalism.

    The council's portfolio holder for finance, Councillor Aaron Spencer, questioned the amount of money, repeating twice: "£12,500 for taps and floors?"

    Justifying the spend, Councillor Nigel Welton, said: "These are taps that need to take the rough and tumble of daily use by the public".

    The money will be spent on toilets in Central Park, Wide Bargate and Lincoln Lane.

    Lincolnshire's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) says he wouldn't want Britain to follow in the footsteps of Canada by legalising cannabis.

    Canada has become the second country after Uruguay to legalise possession and use of recreational cannabis and hopes the move will stop big profits going to organised crime.

    But Lincolnshire PCC Marc Jones says he'd be particularly concerned that legalisation in Britain would lead to an even bigger problem with "drug-driving" than the county already faces.

  16. Calls for dashcams to be fitted to all new vehiclespublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 17 October 2018

    All new vehicles should be fitted with dashcams, according to the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership.

    It comes after footage of a near miss between a lorry and a car, on the A16 near Crowland, appeared on social media:

    Kim Lovelace from Old Leake, who was driving the car in the video, said she thought she was going to die when she saw the lorry coming towards her on the wrong side of the road.

    The Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership say footage from dashcams can help police investigating collisions and incidents.

    8,000 poppies have been hung from the top of a Lincolnshire church tower.

    The poppies have been knitted by volunteers, as we mentioned earlier.

    The cascade has been created to mark the centenary of the end of World War One.

    Members of the Royal Artillery put up the display at St Andrew's Church in Kirton in Lindsey.

    A cascade of poppies will be draped from a Lincolnshire church tower this afternoon.

    8,000 poppies have been knitted by volunteers at St Andrew's Church at Kirton in Lindsey to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.

    The cascade will be hoisted up the church tower by members of the Royal Artillery.

    A tagger in Bourne has been ridiculed on social media for his "Bob" graffiti.

    People have reported seeing the "Bob" tag on vans, garage doors, windows and signs.

    Even gravestones in the local cemetery have been targeted, according to Lincolnshire Police.

    As a result, Bourne and Billingborough Neighbourhood Policing Team has posted an online appeal in a bid to catch the culprit.

    Responding, local residents have expressed their disgust at the tagger's work and questioned his or her artistic ability.

    One person writes: "I mean BOB is not quite Banksy is it? He hasn't aspired to a lot."

    Others said spelling "Robert" was clearly well beyond the tagger's capabilities...
