  2. Grindr users warned over 'nudes' scampublished at 13:27 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2017

    Users of the gay dating app, Grindr, have been warned to beware of messages from a scammer asking for credit card details in order to help investigate supposed nude pictures.

    The Met's LGBT Liaison Officers shared a photo on Twitter of what the fake messages look like.

    The scammer suggests that nude pictures of the Grindr user have appeared on a different dating site before asking for payment to solve the issue.

    Officers added: "They ask for credit card details to ‘check’ the site or to have the photos revealed. Many users received same message so don’t pay."

  4. Homeless placed in 'tiny' flats to be investigatedpublished at 12:04 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2017

    The chair of the Communities and Local Government Committee has vowed to investigate private landlords, who are housing the homeless in tiny flats.

    Clive Betts told the BBC the practice, which involves landlords converting family homes into several flats and renting them out to homeless people on housing benefit, was "an abuse of the system".

    Gary, 63, lives in a 10sq m (110sq ft) room in Hounslow, which is rented out to him as a studio flat.

  5. Driver sought after fatal hit and run in South Woodfordpublished at 11:37 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2017

    A driver involved in a fatal hit and run yesterday evening in South Woodford is being sought by police.

    At 18:30 a car was in collision with a pedestrian in Woodford Road at the junction with Bedford Road.

    The 78-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The car involved was a white VW Golf and was found in a nearby street.

  6. Voluntary living wage rate rise to boost 150,000 UK staffpublished at 11:11 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2017

    More than 150,000 workers whose firms are signed up to the voluntary living wage rate are set to get a pay rise.

    The voluntary rate, promoted by the Living Wage Foundation campaign group, is to rise by 30p an hour to £8.75. For those living in London, the rate will rise by 45p to £10.20 an hour.

    About 3,600 firms are signed up to the scheme, including Ikea and Google.

    The Rail Accident Investigation Board (RAIB) says it has sent a team of inspectors to the site of the Wimbledon trail derailment to begin gathering evidence.

    London Fire Brigade said it was called to the Wimbledon derailment at 05:54 and that crews from Wimbledon, New Malden and Mitcham fire stations attended.

    It tweeted: "Specialist urban search and rescue crews have corrected the rear carriage that derailed nr #Wimbledon train station and are helping passengers from the train."

    Elsewhere, a signal failure at Barking caused severe delays to the Circle and Hammersmith and City lines.

  13. Travel: Derailment near Wimbledonpublished at 08:01 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2017

    A train has derailed near Wimbledon station in south-west London, South Western Railway has said. There are no reports of any injuries to passengers.

    The rail line into London is now open and trains can now run, but will be delayed for the rest of the day, with 30 minute plus delays and cancellations.

    There is no District Line service from Wimbledon to Parsons Green, with minor delays between Parsons Green and Edgware Road.

    On the Bakerloo Line, there is no service between Queens Park and Elephant & Castle due to a local power failure at Queens Park.

    On the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines there are severe delays and minor delays on the Metropolitan Line because of signal failures.

    On the Northern Line, there are minor delays between Kennington and Camden Town via Charing Cross because of a local power failure.

    Lots of stations are closed, including Tufnell Park, Kentish Town, Warren Street, Goodge Street and Angel due to power failures. Aldgate East is closed due to a fire alert.

    On the Overground, there is no service between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction and severe delays from Wandsworth Road to Surrey Quays due to a faulty track.

    On Southern there is a reduced service between East Croydon and Milton Keynes Central because of a shortage of conductors.
