    Thousands attended the event in Manchester's Albert Square

    More than 3,500 singers came together in Manchester last night to lead a chorus of amateur voices in a mass sing-along to remember the victims of the Arena attack.

    Twenty-two people died and hundreds more were injured when a bomb was detonated outside an Ariana Grande gig exactly one year ago yesterday.

    Manchester Together, in Albert Square, featured songs by some of the city's favourite musicians including Oasis; whose songwriter Noel Gallagher appeared on the video screen with a message, to introduce their track Don't Look Back In Anger.

    "If you look closely, I shall be miming along with you" said Noel.

    The mass singalong followed a memorial service at Manchester Cathedral, which saw Prince William join political leaders and the families of the victims.

    Ariana could not make it but posted another message of support (below), which included a video of fans singing her new track No Tears Left To Cry.

    The Duke of Cambridge has added a handwritten message to one of the "Trees of Hope" in Manchester in memory of those who died in the arena terror attack.

    Prince William was in the city for the first anniversary of the bombing and joined families of victims at the Manchester Cathedral service.

    The "Trees of Hope" trail allows people to write tributes and messages of love and support to victims on the anniversary of the Manchester Arena attack.

    Messages on specially designed tags can be attached to 28 Japanese maple trees from Manchester Victoria station to St Ann's Square until 27 May.

    It's looking like a beautiful day in Manchester...after last night's events to remember the arena attack victims.

    People have been leaving tributes in St Ann's Square on the first anniversary of the suicide bombing which killed 22 people, many of them children.

    Flowers, messages and balloons were placed here after last night's commemorations which concluded with a mass singalong in Albert Square.

    This morning, people are stopping to read messages tied to 28 Japanese maple trees as part of the "Trees of Hope" trail.

    Liverpool and Roma have been charged by Uefa following crowd disturbances at the sides' Champions League semi-final first leg at Anfield last month.

    Liverpool have also been charged with setting off fireworks and throwing objects.

    The Reds won the first leg 5-2 but the match was marred by violence before kick-off with nine men arrested.

    Two Italian men were charged on 26 April after Liverpool fan Sean Cox was left seriously injured.

    She posted a video of a group of girls singing her latest song No Tears Left To Cry with the message "so wish I was there with you all today".

    Twenty-two people were killed and hundreds injured when a bomb was detonated at the end of her concert on 22 May 2017.

    A series of memorial events took place across Manchester yesterday to mark the anniversary.

    A video message from Noel Gallagher introduced the moment many had been waiting for - a sing-along rendition of the Oasis classic Don't Look Back in Anger.

    The singing was loud and proud, much as it was during the Great Manchester Run at the weekend.

    You can feel the emotion from the crowd as each choir sings. It feels like a privilege to be here to witness the event as it really does show the city's soul - using music to help to heal.

    With the Worker Bees choir performance of Fix You, particularly, many members of the crowd were left in tears.

    Meanwhile, a number of balloons have been released into the sky. It looks like they're from just outside Albert Square.
