    The exit slip road at junction 24 of the M1 southbound, near the A453, has had one lane blocked this morning after a four-vehicle crash.

    Emergency services are at the scene and Highways England said there could be some minor delays although traffic is flowing. The vehicles are expected to be cleared within the next hour.

    A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car which was being pursued by police after failing to stop last night.

    The pedestrian was hit in Broxtowe Lane shortly after 22:03 on Tuesday.

    Nottinghamshire Police said the car was then abandoned a short distance away in nearby Bells Lane, on the Broxtowe Estate, and the driver fled on foot.

    The woman's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and the force said it had referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

    Police are trying to trace the driver and have asked anyone with information to get in touch.

    Firefighters have worked through the night to tackle a blaze at an industrial garage in Cosby, Leicestershire.

    They were called shortly after 19:30 last night to the unit off Broughton Road, and Shuttleworth Lane was closed while the fire was put out.

    Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said one woman suffered minor burns and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary. A second person, a man, was treated at the scene.

    Head of operation response, Matthew Cane, said the fire was now under control but roads between Cosby and Broughton Astley would remain closed this morning as officers "ensure cylinders involved no longer pose a risk".

    Former Bassetlaw MP John Mann has taken up his seat in the House of Lords after resigning on Monday.

    The Labour politician served as MP for Bassetlaw for 18 years before announcing his resignation earlier this year.

    Lord Mann, who was nominated in Theresa May's resignation honours list, has been a prominent critic of Jeremy Corbyn, largely over the Labour leader's handling of anti-Semitism in the party.

    Lord Mann left the House Of Commons on Monday after he was appointed Steward and Bailiff of the Three Hundreds of Chiltern, a parliamentary procedure that allows an MP to resign.

    He has also been made the government's independent adviser on anti-Semitism.

    He will sit as a non-affiliated peer.

    A car fire is causing delays on the A46 during rush hour in Nottinghamshire.

    Highways England said a lane on the southbound carriageway from Farndon remains closed as the burnt-out car is "in the process of being recovered".

    It added the carriageway will need "inspecting and repairing".

    A tribute to the late Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has been added to a hospice memorial in acknowledgement of his contribution "to making Leicestershire a better place".

    LOROS added the leaf-shaped metal plaque bearing Mr Vichai's name to its memory tree in a ceremony marking the first anniversary of his death in a helicopter crash which also killed four others last October.

    He said it was "humbling" and that Mr Vichai did "so much" for people across Leicestershire and Rutland.

    Four police officers were assaulted this morning when they went to investigate a domestic incident.

    Derbyshire Police said two of its officers required hospital treatment after the assault, which happened in High Street, Tibshelf, in the early hours of the morning.

    A 42-year-old man and a boy, 16, were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

    A 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police, the force added.

    A conductor was pushed over by a group of men and sprayed with beer as a train travelled through Nottingham.

    British Transport Police said it happened on a service running between Sheffield and Retford at about 17:20 on Saturday 28 September.
