    Police are investigating a fire in a derelict house in Oswestry this afternoon. 

    Two engines were sent to the property on Maesbury Road. 

    Breathing equipment was used to put out the fire - which started in a pile of rubbish inside the empty building.

    Bob Jameson from Clun is no ordinary pensioner.

    The 85-year-old is waiting for Guinness World Records to recognise him as the world's oldest hockey player, but he says he isn't playing just to break records.

    The Shrewsbury business group Morris & Co has secured contracts to supply low-voltage lighting towers to building sites in Russia and Dubai. 

    Morris Site Machinery, will also provide 300 lighting towers to Australia's biggest equipment-hire firm.

    Company director Chris Morris described the orders, totalling more than £3.5m, as significant.

  5. Three bailed over Shrewsbury stabbingpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 4 August 2016

    The boy was found in Wayford Close in Meole Brace at about 21:45 on Monday after what police described as a "targeted attack".

    He had been in a critical condition since the attack and officers said he died in hospital this morning.

    A murder investigation is under way.

    Three people arrested in connection with the attack have been released on bail.

    A bomb disposal crew cordoned off a house in Regent Street in Wellington last night after a resident found an old grenade there.

    The device was found to be safe and West Mercia Police insist their actions were precautionary.  

  11. Hero Tink in the running to win Cat of the Yearpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 4 August 2016

    A Shropshire cat that saved its owners' lives when it alerted them to a fire is among those in the running to be named cat of the year today. 

    Tink jumped on top of Claire Hopkinson when an electrical fault sparked a fire at a neighbouring property in Shrewsbury. 

    It meant she was able to tell the rest of the family and get everyone to safety.

  12. Shoppers 'very sad' to see the end of BHS in Telfordpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 4 August 2016

    I've been talking to people in Telford town centre, where BHS has closed its doors for the final time. 

    One lady told me that our high streets are changing too quickly, but another said that prices "were quite over-inflated" in comparison to other shops.

    The work to remove Fox House began this morning and it's hoped it'll lead to the road reopening earlier than expected.  

  14. Thousands expected at Burwarton Showpublished at 10:29 British Summer Time 4 August 2016

    The Burwarton Show is open near Bridgnorth. 

    It's 125 years since the show started - and since then, it's become the biggest one-day event in the county. 

    Some 20,000 people are expected to attend. 

    The most important part of the show is already under way - the judging of cakes and preserves!

    More than 1,000 jobs could be created with the building of a new business park in Oswestry, Shropshire Council says.

    It's hoped government backing for the long-planned Innovation Park, external at Mile End will arrive in the autumn. 

    Councillor Steve Charmley says it'll bring huge benefits to an expanding town.

    Detectives are continuing to question three people today about a knife attack on Shrewsbury's Meole estate.

    A 16-year-old remains in a critical condition after being found with stab wounds on Monday night.

    Bob Jameson from Clun has just returned from Australia, where he played in the Masters Hockey World Cup.

    While he was there, he beat the current record for the oldest hockey player, which is 84 years and 170 days.
