    Breaking

Two police officers are facing a criminal investigation in the wake of former footballer Dalian Atkinson's death after being Tasered outside his childhood home in Telford in the early hours of Monday.

Atkinson went into cardiac arrest on his way to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said the two officers had also been served with gross misconduct notices and the investigation would focus on the "level and type of force used".

A post-mortem test was carried out on the former Aston Villa, Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday striker yesterday. The cause of death was inconclusive and further tests are expected to be carried out.

The IPCC said its investigation was at a very early stage and urged people not to speculate.
