  20. Wrekin MP wants greater transparency from hospital review bodypublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 27 September 2016

The Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard says he wants to know how a hospital review panel came to suggest Shrewsbury would be a better place for women and children's services in the future.

That is the recommendation from a Future Fit report focusing on clinical need - another report will look at the costs involved and both will go before an NHS board next month.

    Mark Pritchard

Mr Pritchard said it would be "utter madness" to abandon the new £28m women and children's unit in Telford and move the services to the Royal Shrewsbury hospital, with Telford having a younger population than the rest of the county.

    Quote Message

That decision (to recommend moving women and children's services) should not have been made in private its such an important decision, the public have a right to know how they came to that decision and why they came to that decision."

    Mark Pritchard, Wrekin MP
