    The row over the future of Shropshire Hospitals has stepped up a gear. 

    There's widespread anger at a suggestion that emergency services should be centered in Shrewsbury and that maternity facilities will be moved from Telford to Shrewsbury. 

    David Evans from Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group is one of the people who'll have to rubber-stamp the plan. 

    He says an independent body has told them maternity and emergency should be together. 

  3. Swan beaten by fisherman for 'stealing bait', say policepublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 27 September 2016

    A fisherman was seen beating a swan and its cygnets, external with a stick after they stole his bait, police have said.

    The incident happened at Holmer Lake in Telford last Tuesday lunchtime, and a cygnet had to be put down the next day.

    Officers have appealed for help to identify a short, white man in his late 50s, who was wearing a green top and dark trousers.

    The Labour leader of Telford and Wrekin Council, Shaun Davies, has called for residents to turn out in support of the Princess Royal Hospital over fears it could be downgraded

    The latest "non-financial appraisal" suggests the main A&E should be in Shrewsbury and women and childrens' services should return there.

    A planned rally will be held in Wellington this Saturday.

    More than 1,000 stray dogs have been picked up by Shropshire's two councils in the past year - with 400 of them not collected by their owners.

    The Dogs Trust charity is encouraging people to make sure their pet's micro-chip is up to date. 

    Since April, it has been illegal to own a dog which doesn't have one.

    Campaigners worried about the possible downgrading of some of Telford's hospital facilities are planning a demonstration at the weekend. 

    Protesters will meet at the community clock in Wellington at 11:00 on Saturday morning and march to the Princess Royal Hospital. 

    One option being looked at by health officials is closing the women and children's unit, which opened two years ago at a cost of £28m, and moving facilities back to Shrewsbury.

    He played a big role in the 1-1 draw at Wimbledon after coming on as a substitute.

  10. Progress on bomber restoration to be show to publicpublished at 09:16 British Summer Time 27 September 2016

    Progress on one of the RAF Cosford museum's longest-running conservation projects will be shown off to the public later this year.

    The Handey Page Hampden bomber was recovered from a crash site in northern Russia in 1991 and it's expected to be 2018 before it is fully restored, but as you can see, it's taking shape now.

    Large parts of the plane have had to be built from scratch by the museum's conservationists, based on drawings from the 1930s.

    The museum's Conservation Centre Open Week runs between the 14 and 19 November.

    A cat has been rescued from a house fire in Ellesmere.

    Firefighters attended a fire in the kitchen of a property, external on Diksmuide Drive in Ellesmere, last night.  

    The cat was given oxygen by fire crews.

    This leaked report on Shropshire's A&E services is continuing to provoke debate on our Facebook page, external.

    Philip Casserley wrote: "Having had to have my son taken by ambulance to Wrexham because it was to risky to go all the way to Telford from Oswestry this will be a great outcome for the people of Shrewsbury, Oswestry and mid Wales however i can see the exactly they people from Telford may be annoyed"

    While Darran Dorsett is trying to see things from an objective point of view: "Whatever the decision, some people will be affected. Two A&E's will present financial and staffing problems, one site will have logistical problems."
