    The Shropshire Wildlife Trust is holding an open evening in Bridgnorth tonight to discuss all aspects of the River Severn.

    And this is the figurehead for one of the boats owned by the Wildlife Trust boat, depicting Sabrina, the goddess of the Severn - it will be one of the talking points tonight.

    The open evening starts at 19:00 at the town's Bassa Villa pub.

    An Oswestry climber has won a national selfie-taking competition.

    Steve Darrall took this picture while on the summit of Glyder Fach in Snowdonia.

    The competition was run by the National Accident Helpline, external and attracted over 400 entries.

    It was run during Accident Awareness Week to get people thinking about their safety while they are taking selfies.

    The Environment Agency has issued two flood alerts, external for Shropshire, covering the River Worfe near Cosford and the River Corve between Ludlow and Onibury.

    Levels on the Corve have already peaked and the Worfe is expected to peak overnight.

  6. More than 200 turn out to offer help to DIY SOS showpublished at 16:32 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2017

    More than 200 tradespeople turned out to meet the BBC's DIY SOS team earlier today, to hear how they could help with a project in Telford later in the month.

    They'll be asked to adapt the home of Matthew Cooper from Trench who suffered two strokes and paralysis while undergoing treatment for a brain tumour.

    The work will involve building a downstairs extension with space for a carer to stay, along with a wet room and physio space.

    Matthew will also need the ground floor of his home adapting, so he can get around it easily, before he can return home.

    A Tunisian man has been arrested in Frankfurt, suspected of recruiting for Islamic State, and being involved in two attacks in Tunis, which killed dozens of tourists - including retired solicitor Sally Adey, from Caynton near Albrighton.

    The 36-year-old was taken into custody during a series of anti-terrorism raids involving more than 1,000 officers.

    He was one of 16 people arrested across the central state of Hesse, as 1,100 police searched flats, businesses and mosques.

    Twenty-one tourists and a Tunisian were killed in March 2015.

    A £4,000 grant from Comic Relief is being used to support a walking football project in Whitchurch, which benefits men mainly over 55.

    Playing once a week helps keep the men fit and forge friendships at the same time.

    They've been asked to make alterations to the home of Matthew Cooper from Trench who has been battling a brain tumour.

    Thor the three-legged fox from Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom has become a popular little animal since escaping his enclosure at Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom.

    And the news that he had been recovered this morning after four nights on the run has been welcomed by people visiting BBC Radio Shropshire's Facebook, external page.

    Kim Byers wrote: "Glad to hear they have him back safely."

    There was also relief when he was first located yesterday. Lucy Emma Hinds wrote: "Phew, been thinking about him."

    Changes could be made to the traffic lights in Lawley, following a series of road accidents around the Newdale cross junction.

    Telford and Wrekin Council says it is talking to the police to understand the cause of the latest one, earlier this week, which resulted in a woman having to be cut free from the wreckage of her car.

    The authority said it has taken steps to improve the coordination of the lights, but it is carrying out a review to see if they can be improved further and if improvements to the signage and road-markings could help.
