    People living in the Hope Valley are being asked if they would like the speed limit along their stretch of the A488 reduced from 60mph to 50mph, but some think it should be reduced even further.

    Shropshire councillor Heather Kidd says people are "overwhelmingly" telling her they want a 40mph limit and she is planning to meet highways engineers to make that point.

    Trades people from across Shropshire will meet the DIY SOS team ahead of the show's latest build in Telford. 

    The BBC TV programme is going to remodel 12-year-old Matthew Cooper's house in Trench.

    Matthew spent over a year in hospital fighting a brain tumour and without the work he can't go back to his family home.  

    Today those who've volunteered to help, will be briefed by the build team, ahead of work starting at the end of the month.

    Telford and Wrekin Council is looking to set up a council-branded energy price comparison website. 

    The idea is to help those affected by fuel poverty and make a bit of extra cash for the Labour-controlled authority.

    It'll cost £3,000 to set up but its earning potential for the council depends on how successful it is. 

    It will get money for every switch made, but needs 249 in the first year alone to break even.

    Shrewsbury Town have been busy during the January transfer window and managed to sneak in one more, just before it closed.

    They signed 19-year-old midfielder Ryan Yates on loan from Nottingham Forest - their eighth signing of the month.

    The central midfielder spent the first half of the season on loan at Barrow where he made 19 appearances scoring two goals and Shrewsbury manager Paul Hurst believes he will add depth to his midfield.

    Thor, the three-legged fox that escaped from Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom at the weekend, has been recaptured.

    He was tracked down to a wood yesterday and last night he was caught in a trap left out for him.

    The wildlife centre says he "seems very relieved to be back home".

    An estimated 620,000 people in the UK have a faulty gene that puts them at risk of developing coronary heart disease or sudden death, and most are unaware, a charity has warned.  

    Former Shropshire batsman James Taylor was one of them.

    He was forced to retire at the age of 26, in April last year after being diagnosed with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy.

    However, unlike Taylor, the British Heart Foundation said many people could be unaware of having the faulty gene to blame for many of the conditions.  

    The charity says more research is urgently needed.

    Shropshire's fertility treatment centre could be moved out of the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital to more modern premises.

    The suggestion to the board that runs the hospital is that it should move to the Severn Fields medical practice in Shrewsbury.

    It would cost £180,000 each year to rent space from the private company which owns the building. 

    But a report to board directors says leaving it where it is would cost more upfront to upgrade buildings that are out of date.

    Shrewsbury and Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynski says the level of overcrowding on trains between Shrewsbury and Birmingham has become "intolerable".

    He was speaking in the House of Commons and asked Transport Minister Chris Grayling to look at the "levels of overcrowding" on the Welsh train network - Arriva.
