    Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Hurst is expecting a tough match as they host high-flying Bradford City on Saturday.

    Town are set to hand home debuts to three players, including Aristote Nsiala, whose red card was rescinded earlier this week, after being sent off in the draw at Harltepool on Saturday.

    Shrewsbury look to climb further off the base of League One against a team that Hurst describes as one of the best in the division.

    A woman suffered facial injuries during an assault in Leegomery, Telford, police have said.

    West Mercia Police said the victim was at home in Cheltenham Court, when a man knocked the door sometime between 16:00 and 17:00 on 4 January.

    After a short conversation - during which the man asked the victim if she wanted to buy some meat - the suspect is reported to have hit the woman, who is aged in her 50s, in the face.

    He is described as around 5ft 8in tall with short army-style mousey brown hair and a teardrop tattoo below his left eye. Police said he was believed to be of eastern European appearance and wearing a blue and grey tracksuit.

    A yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in the West Midlands.

    The Met Office says:, external "A cold north to northwesterly airstream will maintain the risk of wintry showers through Friday night and Saturday morning. However, amounts of snow are likely to be very variable with some places remaining dry."

  10. Witnesses sought after man hit by car in Telfordpublished at 11:36 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2017

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was hit by a car in Telford.

    West Mercia Police say it happened at the junction of Parkway and Court Street in Madeley around 17:20 yesterday.

    Police say it is believed the car, a blue Chevrolet Kalos, was travelling through the traffic lights at the crossroads when it was in collision with a man in his 20s.

    The man suffered head injuries and a broken leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.

  11. 100 jobs on way as car parts firm announces plans for new site in Telfordpublished at 11:16 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2017

    About 100 jobs are expected to be created after a car parts factory unveiled plans for a new factory in Telford, external.

    Automotive parts supplier Polytec Group has announced plans to to build a manufacturing site at the T54 technology park.

    It will be built over three phases, with the first creating as many as 100 jobs at Plots Two and Three of T54 at Junction 4 of the M54.

    The full plans will see three stages of development, starting with the new paint plant and assembly hall then progressing to manufacturing facility and finally an additional assembly hall. Detailed planning permission for the site has already been submitted.

    Shropshire Council is reporting a number of fallen trees in the county.

    It says a tree is blocking the road at Ryton, while a second is blocking Common Lane in Soudley.
