    A new multimillion-pound police station in Shrewsbury is likely to based at a completely different site, Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion suggests.

    He said the current HQ in Monkmoor was "not accessible to large chunks of our community" and was "not serving the needs of the police".

  10. Shrewsbury could get new police stationpublished at 14:05 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2017

    Shrewsbury could get a new multimillion-pound police station, under plans being considered by West Mercia's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).

    John Campion said he hoped a plan could be finalised by the end of the year, hopefully allowing the station to open before the end of his first term as PCC in four years' time.

    A public consultation on the future of emergency healthcare in Shropshire is not expected to start until June.

    Telford's Clinical Commissioning Group earlier deferred a decision over consultation and instead, along with Shropshire CCG, commissioned an independent review of proposals to downgrade the A&E at the Princess Royal Hospital.

    The Future Fit plans also include moving the recently opened women and children's unit to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, to sit alongside a new enhanced emergency centre.

    Telford Tigers will make their debut on satellite TV tonight when their win over Swindon Wildcats is broadcast on local TV station Made in Birmingham, external.
