    He said he hopes Shrewsbury can stay up.

  3. GP merger plans could result in cost savingspublished at 11:33 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2017

    The plan to merge nine GP practices in Telford to create a group called Teldoc, is meant to make it easier to get a doctor's appointment, if your local practice is busy, but Healthwatch Telford, external says it could also reduce costs.

    The patients group says the surgeries will share phone services and management and while there are no plans to close practices at the moment, that could be a possibility in the future.

    Healthwatch Telford also said the merger would also reduce pressure on specialists and allow them more freedom to concentrate on their areas of interest.

    Telford Tigers beat Swindon 8-3 last night to extended their unbeaten home record this season.

    Victory over the Wildcats, added to Saturday’s victory in Milton Keynes, means the Tigers are now seven points clear at the top of the English Premier League.

  5. Telford GP practice merger planpublished at 10:51 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2017

    From the start of April, nine GP practices in Telford will share their resources and this could make it easier to get an appointment with your doctor.

    Six of them, Malinslee, Aqueduct, Madeley, Hadley, Leegomery and Lightmoor merged in 2015, allowing the 15,000 patients registered with those practices the chance to see a doctor at any of those sites.

    Last month, Telford's Clinical Commissioning Group agreed to add three more practices, Lawley, Dawley and Oakengates Limes Walk, to create a group called Teldoc which will serve 50,000 of the 182,000 registered patients in Telford.

    Mat Sadler's late header prevented Shrewsbury slumping to a fourth successive defeat as they came from behind to draw against Swindon.

    Both teams were reduced to 10 men in the second half at the County Ground after referee Nigel Miller sent off Shrews debutant Aristote Nsiala and Robins midfielder James Brophy.

    Sadler claimed a dramatic equaliser in the 80th minute when his header bounced down off of the underside of the crossbar before the linesman waved his flag to signal it had crossed the line.

    Shropshire Fire and Rescue crews pulled a calf from a slurry pit over the weekend. 

    If you look closely, you can just make out the animal, despite being totally covered.

  12. Fire tackled for over an hour in Bishop's Castlepublished at 09:05 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2017

    Fire crews used thermal imaging gear as they fought to contain a chimney fire at a house in Bishop's Castle, external in the early hours of this morning. 

    It took them more than an hour to bring the blaze at a house on Corporation Street under control.

    Crews were also called to the Stadco factory in Shrewsbury yesterday evening when a fire started in a large waste container. 

    They used breathing gear and a specialist fan to put it out.
