AFC Telford United won the Shropshire Senior Cup last night, beating Shrewsbury Town 2-0.
Elliott Hodge scored from a penalty 30 seconds into the second half, after being brought down by the Shrewsbury keeper. And Connor McCarthy marked his return to the side with a late close-range header that was on target.
Assistant manager Larry Chambers called the game "a great distraction from the league", and said Telford deserved the win.
Quote MessageIt means a lot to the fans and we said to the lads before the game, it's a cup final. We tried to reiterate how much it means to everybody in Telford, the rivalry between Shrewsbury and Telford and in fairness the lads have gone out and put a good performance in."

Private landlords on some Telford housing estates could be forced to license their properties on some estates in a bid to combat issues such as fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour.
If councillors approve the scheme, already used in some other parts of the country, a five-year licence would cost £610 per landlord.
Quote MessageI think it is about the landlords knowing who's living in their properties, so we'll be asking them to undertake some tenant checks. I think it's right and proper to ask landlords to visit their properties regularly, to take a look, to make sure that tenants living in their properties are playing their bit in the community and keeping it a nice, safe place to live."
