    The Leopold Mk1 tank was made in 1972 and has was refurbished by enthusiasts in 2000 after being decomissioned by the Belgian armed forces.

    Ian Galliers is one of those who have brought it over to the UK and he told us it was also going to make an appearance at the Steam Rally in Shrewsbury at the bank holiday weekend, where it might be used to pull a tractor.

    Plans to merge North Shropshire College and Reeseheath College in Nantwich have been shelved after failing to attract government funding.

    North Shropshire College has been struggling with its finances and with critical inspection reports. The two institutions have been working together for over a year, to turn things around.

    They say they'd been in talks with two government funding agencies for 10 months, but had to conclude "there is not a viable solution".

    The two colleges now say they will look for an alternative way forward, rather than a merger, to "ensure that the outcome serves the needs of our students, employers and community as effectively as possible”.

    An Argentine family, who are touring the world in a 1928 vintage car, have made a stop-off in Shrewsbury.

    The Zapps have been travelling for 17 years now and decided to visit Shropshire after meeting a family from the county while they were in Spain.

    Herman and Candeleria Zapp raised all four of their children while travelling the world and are staying in Shrewsbury for a few days before carrying on with their adventure.

    A 17th Century black-and-white timbered pub has reopened in Oswestry

    The Black Gate closed three years ago and has had a refit inside.

    Stuart Phillips from commercial property agents Celt Rowlands, who handled the sale of the Black Gate, said the deal shows Oswestry’s economy is reviving.

    And the new manager Paul Livingston said he was excited to see it open again.

    Shrewsbury Town have signed Stefan Payne from Barnsley, for an undisclosed fee.

    The 26-year-old striker was on loan from the Yorkshire club last season, scoring twice in 12 league appearances.

    Shrewsbury Town are at home to Rochdale tomorrow, a side which has failed to live up to its expectations so far this season.

    While Shrewsbury have two wins out of two, their visitors have only collected one point so far.

    Shrewsbury manager Paul Hurst says he is keeping his players in check, to make sure they don't get carried away with their bright start to the season, but thinks a good team spirit is developing.

    A woman from New Zealand has been reunited with the necklace she lost in Ironbridge a fortnight ago, after an appeal on Facebook.

    Nicole Shimmin said it went missing while she was spending a day there and explained the pendant (similar to the one below) was very important to her - because it contained her son's ashes.

    She had to return home without it, but after nearly 5,000 people shared her post, it was eventually found and is being returned to her.

    Flags at Telford council offices are flying at half mast today, as a mark of respect for the people killed and injured in the Barcelona terrorist attack.

    The council leader Councillor Shaun Davies said his thoughts were with the victims and added "sadly tragedies like this are happening all too regularly and this particular one has impacted citizens of at least 18 countries".

    Telford judo star Kelly Edwards, who is due to compete at the World Championships in Budapest at the end of the month, will be returning for a rather different event closer to home.

    The 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medallist will be guest of honour at this year's Oswestry Community Games, external on 24 September.

    These fifth annual Games - held in Oswestry's Cae Glas Park - include sport, music, arts and dance, and encourage public participation.

    "It will be an absolute privilege to attend the Oswestry Community Games, and I look forward to contributing towards making them another success," Edwards said.

    She is back to full fitness after missing the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

    It has been open for 84 years, and was built in the 1930s by local residents as a place where the community could get together.

    A new fitness regime could be one of the reasons for Shrewsbury Town's impressive start to the season and manager Paul Hurst says they're monitoring its impact very closely.

    He has praised the players' effort in the opening three games and says he wants to see that continue.

    Hurst said it was usual to expect a drop-off in player's fitness two or three games into a new season, but that hadn't been the case this time around.

    The life of a young farmer who died at the Royal Welsh Show in Powys last month will be celebrated today.

    James Corfield, 19, who was a member of Chirbury and Marton Young Farmers group in Shropshire, was found in the River Wye six days after he was last seen.

    A promising cricketer, he'll be remembered at Montgomery Cricket Club this afternoon.
