    Shrewsbury Town have agreed to loan young left back Callum Roberts to The New Saints until January.

    He spent time on loan with Hednesford Town last season and signed his first professional deal with Shrewsbury in the summer.

  6. Newly-installed traffic lights to remain onpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 15 August 2017

    The newly-installed traffic lights at the Ketley Brook roundabout in Telford are going to be left on, Telford and Wrekin Council has decided.

    They are designed to change in response to demand and the authority had been experimenting with switching them off, after complaints from motorists.

    But it has concluded the increase in journey times was outweighed by the improvement in safety for pedestrians.

    Today is not only the final day of the minor counties championship season for Shropshire - it's the final game for their long-serving scorer, Colin Barthorpe.

    He's been recording every run and dot-ball for 17 years and says the highlights have included the county's two trips to the minor counties knock-out finals.

    A series of advice sessions for small businesses are going to be put on in Shropshire this autumn.

    The Marches Growth Hub, external is planning to visit Oswestry, Ludlow, Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury, giving tips on getting support and funding.

    The sessions will be three hours long, with the first at Oswestry Cricket Club on 13 September.

    A woman in her 20s has been threatened in her Telford home by four people who barged their way in this morning.

    The police say the two men and two women confronted her on the doorstep of the house on Downton Court, in Hollinswood, at 02:30, before entering the property.

    Shropshire have been set 238 to win their final minor counties championship match of the season.

    That's after bowling Wiltshire out for 208 in their second innings.

    And they've made a good start, at 72-0.

    AFC Telford United manager Rob Edwards says he won't be making any drastic changes following last night's defeat, their third in a row.

    He said the players were "really buying in to what we are trying to do" and that changing his plans now would risk losing their confidence.

    Shrewsbury Town's Joe Riley says he is relieved to get back to full training.

    The full back had an operation after he picked up an ankle injury in the final game of last season.

    He said he'd had injuries in the past and "you just have to pick yourself and get on with it" and revealed he'd had a text from the player who caused the injury to wish him well with his recovery.

    Riley also said he'd had to cancel a couple of summer holidays because of the injury.

    Wiltshire are 167-7 at lunch on the final day of their minor counties championship match against Shropshire - a lead of just 196.

  18. Plans for railway weighbridge to be explainedpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 15 August 2017

    Plans to restore a 150-year-old weighbridge in Bishop's Castle will be set out at a meeting this afternoon.

    The Bishop's Castle Railway Society, external wants to save the building, on the site of the town's former railway station, and estimates the work will cost about £50,000.

    The society is considering a lottery bid and will be explaining its ideas at the town hall between 16:00 and 20:00.

  19. Ice hockey: Tigers prepare for pre-season friendliespublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 15 August 2017

    Telford Tigers have lined up pre-season friendlies for their two teams over the bank holiday weekend.

    Their division one side will be travelling to the north east to play Billingham Stars on 26 August, while Coventry Blaze NIHL to come to the Telford Ice Rink, to play the Tigers division two team.
