    A few traffic pinch-points are being reported in parts of South Yorkshire at the moment. These are the latest details:

    • Slow traffic on M1 northbound at J33, A630 (Catcliffe)
    • Slow traffic on A57 Sheffield Parkway westbound in Sheffield at the A61 Derek Dooley Way junction
    • Heavy traffic on A19 Askern Road northbound in Bentley at the Arksey Lane junction
    • Slow traffic on A57 westbound in Sheffield at the A630 junction

    The grotto opened in York over the weekend.

  10. Barnsley fruit and veg voucher scheme launchedpublished at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2016

    Food vouchers are to be given to up to 120 families as part of a scheme aimed at encouraging people to eat more fruit and veg.

    About £30,000 worth of vouchers will be given to people to buy fruit and vegetables at Barnsley Market.

    The pilot, funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the Alexandra Rose Charity, is the first outside of London.

    The second largest home care provider in the UK, the Mears Group, say they can't afford to provide care services on the money they're being paid. 

    They have pulled out of three contracts with local authorities and say more could follow.  

    The company is known to have a contract with Sheffield City Council and Rotherham Council but neither authority says they have been contacted by the firm.

    Police searching for missing Rotherham man Daniel Higgs have found a body.

    Officers found a man's body in the River Don at 10:55.

    The body has not been identified but is believed to be the missing 32 year old.

    Daniel's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

  16. Man arrested in connection with attempted rape on Sheffield trainpublished at 15:59 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2016

    A 33 year old man has been arrested by detectives investigating an attempted rape on a train out of Sheffield station.

    On 19th November a 27 year old woman and her partner were on the 22:40 train from Sheffield to Leeds.

    When her partner went to the toilet a man sat next to the woman and attempted to rape her.

    On his return the partner threw the man out of the seat but was unaware of what had happened to the woman until the couple got off the train at Swinton.

    A 33 year old Barnsley man was arrested by British Transport Police on Saturday.

    He has been bailed until the 20th January as detectives continue their investigation.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0800 40 50 40.

  18. £12,000 worth of cannabis plants seized in Rotherham drugs raidspublished at 15:18 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2016

    Police have seized 12 cannabis plants worth £12,000 as well as cash in a series of raids in Rotherham.

    Officers from South Yorkshire Police made one arrest after carrying out warrants at three addresses in the town.

    It was part of a day of action involving more than 150 police and other agency staff known as Operation Duxford.

    Rotherham Council will get back powers over taxi licensing - gradually.

    The government has decided to return powers to the appointed commissioners who run many council functions.

    However, elected councillors will not take over the responsibility for taxi licensing until 2019.

    Workers have been let back into the Magna centre in Rotherham after a suspect package was made safe.  

    The bomb squad was called in after police were alerted to the item which was in a road near the visitor attraction. 

    About 650 people who were attending a conference at Magna had to leave the building while the incident was dealt with.
