    A Sheffield scholboy, external remains in intensive care after he was hit by a car as he crossed a road. 

    Hakeem Pickering-Smith, aged 15, suffered life threatening injuries in the collision on Catch Bar Lane, Hillsborough, on Sunday, December 11.

    Then playing for Walsall, the 24-year-old won his first senior cap for Wales in their defeat by Ukraine in March, giving him the chance to rub shoulders with the duo.

    Independent traders in Barnsley, including a family jewellers established in 1947, are being put out of business as the council presses ahead with a modernisation, external of its shopping centre. 

    Traders say that whilst market stall holders have been protected, they've been turfed out with no support and no appropriate alternative units provided. The council denies treated them badly.

    An investigation by the BBC has revealed that in the past two years there have been more than 1,000 cases of children going missing from care in South Yorkshire. 

    In 2014 the government brought in new rules, external on how councils and police should respond if a child runs away. 

    There are currently almost 2,000 young people who are being looked after by our local authorities.

    This is the garden of Malcolm Muldoon in Tupton, Chesterfield.

    He has lit up his garden for the past 12 years to raise money for Ashgate Hospice, Weston Park Hospital and Marie Curie. 

    Delighting young and old alike, he started doing it after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma on Christmas Eve 2004.

    The family of a toddler from South Yorkshire who fell onto a patio from a bedroom window have raised more than £3,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, external

    Noah Oxley survived his fall in July in Brampton Bierlow, near Rotherham when he was 18 months old.

    Yorkshire Air Ambulance airlifted him to Sheffield Children's Hospital - he had a fractured skull and a small bleed on the brain.

    It's been a strange 18 months for Ed Miliband. While his work colleague Ed Balls has entertained the nation on Strictly Come Dancing, Ed Miliband's face is now being used to illustrate what flu looks like.

    Eagle-eyed viewers of NBC news last night noticed a photograph of the Doncaster North MP had been used during story about flu.

  20. Life in prison for man who killed ex-girlfriend in Sheffieldpublished at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2016

    A man who stabbed his former girlfriend to death in a "senseless attack" in Sheffield has been jailed for 26 years.

    Tapiwa Douglas Furusa, 37, from Colchester, attacked Leigh-Anne Mahachi outside her home in Spotswood Close, Gleadless Valley, as she left for work on 12 April.

    Bank worker Leigh-Anne had left the house to go to work in the city centre when her mother heard screaming and shouting coming from outside.

    She looked out and saw Leigh-Anne’s ex-boyfriend, Furusa, knelt over her, lashing out at the top half of her body with a knife.

    Leigh-Anne was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

    Furusa was jailed for life at Sheffield Crown Court, with a minimum term of 26 years.

    Det Ch Insp Steve Ashmore says the murder has had a devastating impact on Leigh-Anne's family:
